The NYSC Coordinator in Katsina State, Ebenezer Afolalu yesterday revealed that a female NYSC member from Edo State, Shemahu Momodu delivered a baby in camp, the day she arrived in camp.
He stated this during the opening ceremony of the 2012 orientation course for batch B NYSC members deployed to the state.
According to the coordinator, he said that the lady delivered on the first day of registration, at the camp clinic.
Afolalu also stated that the female corps member was delivered of the baby girl by some batch "B" corps doctors, who assisted to ensure the stability of both mother and child before being referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina.
He said out of the 2,500 corps members deployed to the state, so far, 1,383 male and 761 female corps members had reported at the close of registration at the orientation camp.
The state NYSC boss said during the period of the orientation exercise, corps members would undergo paramilitary training, entrepreneurship development programme and lectures, as well as drills in martial arts.
Afolalu, however, urged the corps members to adjust to the lifestyle in the camp, adding that "here, laws are made to be obeyed,
Instructions are to be taken without questions, and this place is like a military camp and, therefore, is seen as such".
In his remarks, Governor Ibrahim Shema said the state government would deploy the youth corps members to agricultural establishments,
to enhance its agricultural revolution programme.
Shema, represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Alhaji Mannir Talba, said the project was aimed at reducing poverty, empowering the youth and guarantee food security in the state and the nation in general.

ReplyDeleteI served in Katsina n during my tym, a girl lost her baby due to the weather i wonder why d will allow women wit babies n d ones due 4 delivery in camp. Baffles mee but alll d same tank God.
