Doctors Kidnapped in Asaba freed


TWO medical doctors, kidnapped in Delta State, last weekend, which forced their colleagues to down tools for two days have been released.
State police command’s spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed the release, said “the doctors escaped from the kidnappers as our crack team closed in on their hideout in a Hilux  patrol van.”

The two medical doctors, who regained their freedom in the early hours of yesterday, were Dr. Otobo Ugege, who was kidnapped in front of his house at Ekettee Waterside, Warri  and Dr. A.C. Ojumah, abducted in front of Government Hospital, Abraka.
Meanwhile, on the foiled kidnap attempt of the state Head of Service, the PPRO said, “he is still in the hospital recuperating and we are also searching for those, who attempted to kidnap him.
Also, men of the state Police Command have  arrested a suspected kidnapper over the kidnap of a lecturer with Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka.
Details of the kidnap of the lecturer were still sketchy but  Muka said yesterday, that “we have arrested a suspect in connection with the kidnap of the lecturer with the assistance of the local vigilante group and also recovered the lecturer’s laptop. Efforts are on to track down the fleeing kidnappers.”
