All roads will lead to the National Assembly on June 19, when the House of Representative Committee on Sports will honour holidaying Nigerian international, John Mikel Obi, at the complex in recognition of his winning both the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League with his Premiership side, Chelsea, in the just concluded season.
The Chairman of the House Committee, Hon. Godfrey Ali Gaiya, hinged the decision to honour the Chelsea’s star on the determination of the National Assembly to reward excellence, stressing that Mikel deserves more than the honour for making Nigeria proud.

“The House wishes to use the honour for Mikel as a way of encouraging our footballers and sportsmen, both at home and abroad, that the government and people of Nigeria are proud of their achievements and exploits and will continue to support them in their efforts to make the country proud.
“Mikel did Nigeria proud, he is our worthy ambassador for proving his competent in Chelsea squad that lifted both the FA Cup and UEFA Championship league. ReplyDeleteYou can't be serious!
ReplyDeleteOur leaders lack focus and waste time on trival issues. When was the last time they honoured our league winners? This is another opportunity to wastefully spend tax payers money.
ReplyDeleteJobless Assemblage!! Phewww!!
ReplyDeleteUseless people! how many time have heard such from UK house of common. Can't they think.
ReplyDeleteAnother opportunity to steal! Where on earth is this heard of? How many players does Chelsea have that worn the titles in question?
ReplyDeleteAre they all being honoured in the same fashion in their respective countries?
This is the height of stupidity, lack of vision, direction and understanding of their roles as representatives of the people.
They are there to make laws! BS of the highest order!
It is so unfortunate that our leaders don't know what really matters in the country. Sad. How do we move forward when our leaders are clueless? *smh*

ReplyDeleteOur National Assembly are at cross-road!!!
They have completely lost their sense of Human reasoning. Pls can OBJ coined out a more befitting title for our Assembly.
They Hv gone beyond level of Rogues & Criminals, The level of monies they steal from us have turned they soul to that of senseless madmen.

ReplyDeletethis is not a country. someone won EUROPEAN LEAGUE in an ENGLISH club and we are honoring him.. they guys are sick and clueless. May God judge you all. We haven't fully recovered from DANA air mishap and this is the next line of action.
ReplyDeleteerrant non sense making?
ReplyDeleteFor God sake this guy is working for his living, and in no way adding value to the lives of the common Nigerian (apologies to his community effort)
I did not know when his personal achievement have become a state matter?
Can somebody tell them to get focussed on improving the quality of life of the common man in Nigeria
Oh goshhhhhhhhhhhh, what manner of clueless people
God punish all of them.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me laugh. Even Drogba who scored the winning go was not hipped in this manner, Mikel is just a team mate not a key player yet Nigerian law assembly is wasting money on stupid honour. People die every day in the hands of Boko haram they have no clue on how to solve the problem now this, I weep for Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteIdea definitely pushed by the Chelsea fans in the house. Absolute nonsense and gross display of misplaced priorities. May God help us in this country.
ReplyDeleteNa God go punish all of u for what is happening to this country.
ReplyDeleteThis Nigeria is amazing. I can't jus bliv what they do with money in this country.... Our roads are bad. Schools are too expensive. No doctors in our hospitals not to talk of equipments. No water to drink. No electricity yet they are incresing the tariff day by day. Security..haa! This does not even concerns them as long as their family(ies) is/are not affected. One thing I know for sure; all these would stop one day. Yes. I believe.
ReplyDeleteI see no reason why such feat by an English club be treated as if its our problem...Its a shame on the House to make this public and a disgrace on the country. Can someone tell them that even Roman Abrahamovic didn't take the celebration out of the club's building and his private home, shameless thieves and Rogues.
ReplyDeleteMikel should not be decieved. He has to up his game or his days in top flight football club is numbered.I do not believe that Mikel would like to see Chelsea as the only big club he ever play for.He should by now be worried that big clubs are not struggling to have him now as they did when he was about joining Chelsea Champions league trophy or not. This Should be his concern now.Look at Messi,Van Persie,Fabrigas,
ReplyDeletehow can the National assembly worry about our country and the level our country is degenerating, how can they not think of trivial issues like honoring someone who didn't bring the cup home...when their pockets are always full, their children live and school in the best schools abroad...when they are living in comfort...shame on you senators
