Fresh Violence in Kaduna, Muslim youths attack Christians, Curfew back on

The Kaduna State Government on Tuesday morning restored a 24-hour Curfew on the 23 local government areas of the state as fresh crisis erupted in Kaduna yesterday when Hausa/Fulani youths in the state launched a reprisal attack on the Christian Community

The state government has again imposed a 24-hour curfew, which was relaxed yesterday after Sunday’s reprisal attacks left at least 100 persons dead.

Over 50 Christians, including an immigration officer, were reported to have been attacked with machetes by the angry Hausa/Fulani youths.

BBC reports that Muslim youths fired gunshots, burnt tyres and attacked persons suspected to be Christians.
Two of them were, however, shot dead by soldiers.

The state government had imposed a 24-hour curfew on Sunday, after the bombing of a church in Kaduna and two others in Zaria by Boko Haram suicide bombers.

The bomb attacks were followed by reprisals. As at Monday night, leaving hundreds dead.

On Monday, the curfew was relaxed by 10 hours while the state government said it would be further reduced by two more hours from Tuesday (today).
But in the wake of the fresh violence, Governor Patrick Yakowa advised all residents of the state to return to their homes and remain indoors.

The advice was contained in a statement by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Reuben Buhari, on Tuesday.
It reads, “In view of certain new security challenges that came up today, and based on the need for the state government to continue with its responsibility of safeguarding all parts of the 23 local government areas of the state.

“As unpalatable as this decision is the state government is doing it in the best interest of the state. Consequently, everybody is strongly advised to go back home now, while security agencies continue with the task of ensuring total peace in the state.”

News Agency of Nigeria correspondents report that there was pandemonium in the city centre as residents, including civil servants and traders, were seen running to security establishments and worship places for protection.

Markets, motor parks, banks and public offices were hurriedly closed due to the unrest.

Billowing smoke was sighted around Tudun Wada, Rigasa, Tudun Nupawa and Nasarawa areas as aggrieved youths took arms in continuation of the violence that erupted in the city on Sunday.
Some security personnel drafted to quell the situation and civilians were seen with various degrees of injury following the unrest.

However, the special security task force code named “Operation Yaki” and other security agencies have been deployed to contain the situation.

Sporadic gun shots were heard around the city, but NAN could not ascertain the number of casualties and property affected.
The state police command confirmed the violence, and said that adequate personnel had been deployed to all the affected areas.

The state command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Aminu Lawal, who declined further comment, told NAN that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jinjiri Abubakar, would brief newsmen on the situation at 2p.m.

  2. Your still calling dear Lord? Slaves called dear lord for 400yrs, ur cry is not louder than theirs. This is a simple situation where we demand categorically that the President stands up to those he knows and said he knows are terrorrising the nation and have them exposed and punish. He also needs to stop hiding from dealing with corruptionn which therefore makes him corrupt, even if they are his sponsors. If he cannot do that then he should step down for someone who can or there will no no Nigeria for our leaders to loot. He also needs to stop using Buhari as a distraction. Buhari is not the problem.

  4. Thank u my broda. Hour said heknows them, he will publish names yet nothing has been done. People keep dying of what they know nothing about andhe keeps mentioning an innocent Buhari. I really don't think we need to call God daily on this anymore because the president who knows these people has refused to handle them.

  8. @ Anonymous 10:07pm, the Israelis called "Dear lord" for 6 days and they totally decimated their enemies despite a 3:1 disadvantage, they increased the size of Israel by over 300%, so what's your point? That God doesn't know what he's doing? Also, you say that the president needs to stand up to these people... how do you suggest he does that? Boko haram members go around dressed as police men and army officials, how is he supposed to tell the difference? Who exactly do you have in mind that's better equipped to handle the situation, hmm?
My advice, is that we should stop treating this like a political issue. It is not! This is the fault of Islam, period! This is what the quran teaches. Boko haram themselves have made their islamic intentions very very clear time and again, but somehow we Nigerians seem not to get the gist! There's a saying that is almost stupidly obvious... its states: 'If someone shows you who they are, believe them!'. Islam is the problem, and the sooner we can admit what the problem is, the sooner we will find a solution. Personally, I believe Jesus is the only way to change these people's hearts? Why? Because i have seen it happen time and time again!
Quran 9:29 - FIGHT THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN ALLAH...
Quran 9:73 - Oh prophet STRIVE HARD against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them!
Quran 9:111 - Surely Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their property FOR THIS, that they might have the garden; they fight in Allah's way, so THEY SLAY AND ARE SLAIN.
Quran 9:23 - Oh you who believe, FIGHT THOSE OF THE UNBELIEVERS WHO ARE NEAR TO YOU and let them find in you hardness.
Quran 47:35 - DO NOT be weary and fainthearted CRYING FOR PEACE when you should be uppermost.
Quran 48:29 - Mohammed is the messenger of allah, and those who are with him are SEVERE AGAINST UNBELIEVERS, and merciful among themselves.
Sahih Muslim 30 (hadith) - Mohammed said: "I have been commanded to fight against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but Allah.
Sunan An-Nasa'i 3099 - The prophet said: "Whoever dies without having fought or having thought of fighting, he dies on one of the branches of hypocrisy"
Sahih al-Bukhari 6922: Allah's messenger said: "if anyone changed his Islamic religion, then kill him"
There's a lot more, but if this isn't proof of what Islam stands for, nothing will be for you! Pray for these people because this is a battle only the grace of our lord Jesus Christ can win!

  9. As far as am concerned now, there is no more one Nigeria, this country should be divided,we cant sit down and watch these babarians looth, kill and destroy us just in the name of one Nigeria.

Which one nigeria, how can animals who have no feeling and human beings live in the same abode.

i heard that even thie evil men wear soldiers uniform to pepetrate this evil act.

If our government can no longer protect his citizens, then every one should carry arm and protect himself.

No more nigeria, no more Nigeria, i repeat no more Nigeria, it is division now and ever.

  12. Let the truth be told, we have not been living as a Nation right from time, let us peacefully breakdown into smaller units of 6 countries, let the Niger Delta have their oil, afterall Nigeria fed tht region with farm produce from the north before this 'oil' thing causing corruption was discovered....BH should know tht they are not doing God's will, very soon them and their sponsors shall be exposed IJN....

  13. we all need to rise up and cry to God. he said if those who are called by my name can humble themselves and pray repenting from their evil ways, i the Lord will hear themand will heal their land. it only God who will heal our nation lets Christian go on our needs in repentance cry unto God and he will hear us. he is a merciful God who is full of mercy.

  14. Soon we shall all realise that anarchy is an ill wind, it blows no one any good! Once it sets in, this nation will never again be itself. That would be the end of Nigeria as we know it. Nigeria is gradually drifting into anarchy and the leaders and elders are just mopping. Now is the time for those who profess love for Nigeria to step out and speak strongly against the current madness.

  15. sometimes i dont understand what they call ONE NIGERIA when we difer in Religion, Culture,Language etc.PLS LET ALL KNOW AND HAVE IT AT THE BACK OF THEIR MIND THAT THERE IS NO UNITED NATION AS FAR AS NIGERIA IS CONCERNED.

  16. the first reprisal you are talking about happened because the muslim sect have taken the silence and peacefull nature of christians for granted. it is high time the christians stood up to them enough is enough.enough killings have happened no reprisal attacks from christians for this long now jst this 1 reprisal attack and the muslims are uncomfortable they can now see how painfull it is, yet they are not even willing to stop the madness. this is absolute ISLAMIC MADNESS I CAN NEVER BECOME A MUSLIM EVEN IF IT IS AT THE POINT THAT MY HEAD WILL BE DEMANDED FOR.

And I saw some pic on the Christian youth reprisal where an army officer was murdered. But you refused to mention or show the pic on your report. That is one and the major problem we are facing in this country, we always use to be bias when it comes to issue like this. Let the truth be told no matter who is involve!!!

  19. WHO GAINS!! We are cattle to GEJ and his conhorts. They are getting massive security vote (unaccountable money$$)from the unrest. Its just basic maths. And leave us to fight among ourselves over religion and tribalism. Many families in Nigeria are multi ethnic and multi religous. WAKE UP !!!

  28. THE TRUTH IS WE ARE NOT COMPARTIBLE. THIS FORCED MARRIAGE MUST END ONE DAY. SINCE THEY SAID THEY WANT ISLAMIC NATION, LET THEM ALONE, LET THEM GO RATHER THAN KILLING INNOCENT AND DEFENCELESS PEOPLE AT WILL.
BH YOU ARE HYPOCRITE, YOU HATE GODLY CHRISTIAN PEOPLE BUT APPRECIATES SINFUL & CORRUPT POLITICIANS.
FOR HOW LONG WOULD OUR LEADERS BE PATCHING TORNED CLOTH (NIGERIA)? LET US FACE REALITY.
AS FOR GEJ AND HIS ADVISERS, THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION TO PROFFER , DONT WORRY YOUSELF.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Unfortunately we dont want to face reality. North and South are not compartible, this forced marriage shall surely end one day. The earlier the better so that many defenceless souls will not be wasted. The solution does not lies with our current leaders but we- the masses.
BH are hypocrites, they kill innocent souls, godly people at will while romancing with sinful, corrupting politicians. God is watching you and will judge you one day. You cant fight for God, He doesnt need human being to fight for Him.
As good as we must pray, we must be watchful and take right, though tough, decision. A commander in chief cannnot afford to be afraid. Use your power Mr President, be courageous.

  40. I dnt understand why u ppl are blaming Islam for this, Islam doesn't support killing nd it is clearly stated in the Quran that anyone that kills shall be killed. BOKO HARAM are using Islam as a cover to get rid of Jonathan for God's sake. Are u ppl too blind to see how peaceful the ppl of SAUDI ARABIA are, and that is the origin of Islam. PLS fear God and stop blaming Islam for this, Please. ISLAM is a religion of peace!

  41. most of the church bombings are being done by the christians themselves. How many would be church bombers have been arrested.I think this is a C.A.N agenda against Nigerian muslims.

  42. It is quite obvious that majority of the people are now aware of Islam, with this u have no excuse in the sight of the almighty not to learn more / make thorough investigation abt both/all religions, so whc ever u go for then u'll know dat it is what u've sent forth for ur tomorrow. Do not forget dat satan has a way of deviating poeple away from the right path, do not be decieved by satan with all the ill statements/videos so far abt Islam, do not be bias, pray/cry to the God who we will all return to, to guide u to the religion dat will be accepted by him. I pray unto the true Mighty God to guide us all to an accepted deed and religion so dat we don't be among the loosers. Fellow Nigerians, dis is only for a short period of time, we shall all overcome this soonest, "with every hardship comes ease." I leave u all in peace
