Farouk Lawan Stuffed Bribe Money Inside His Cap To Avoid Suspicion.

It has now been revealed that Lawan visited Otedola’s house on three different occasions over the bribe issue. On each occasion, he drove himself in a C class Mercedes Benz. Five video recordings, lasting an average of eight to 10 minutes each were made on each of those visits.

According to a source in the security services, on the first visit, he had lunch with Otedola where the amount to be paid was negotiated and eventually agreed on.

On his second visit, which was around 11 pm, he collected the first tranche of $250,000 and during the third visit when he came around 5.05 am, he collected the second tranche of $250,000. He was dressed in green buba and sokoto with a cap to match.

Later in the day at the plenary session after he had collected the second tranche, he got the House to clear Zenon as one of the companies that bought foreign exchange but did not import petroleum products.

“In the video, Lawan was clearly seen stuffing wads of dollar bills into his pocket, when his pocket was full, to the utter shock of all those who have seen the damning video, he removed his cap and concealed the remaining wads of dollar bills inside it and replaced the cap on his head.

“Nigerians will reel with laughter if they ever get to watch this video. It is on the one hand hilarious and on the other, shameful,” a source said.

Further investigations revealed that Lawan’s resort to stuffing the money in his pockets and cap was done to avoid arousing suspicion from Otedola’s domestic help who would have seen him entering the house empty handed and coming out carrying a bulging envelope.

However, unknown to him, a surveillance video camera carefully installed by the SSS was recording all his actions."

Only God knows how these bundles of thieves came to be rulling us.

  9. Both the person who collected bribe and the person who offered bribe are guilty of corruption. Both should be arrested and dealt with appropriately. The greatest culprit in my thinking is the person who offered the bribe, and for this country to make progress in stemming this ugly trend of corruption, we must not celebrate people who offers bribes and blows the whistle for selfish ends.

  10. If the State Security Service were responsible for placing the hidden camera, why did they (SSS) have to wait for Femi Otedola to bring the video recording in?

Was Femi Otedola the only person purortedly approached for a bribe?

We may never really know the truth to this pencil-written case, where statements can be retracted and re-written as frequently as required.

  15. Farouk's mandate was not to set anyone up, had no biz in otedola's house, he had no biz trying to prove to anyone that otedola can give bribe to cover his guilt. otedola is an expert in bribery, he does that all his life. His mandate was to investigate the subsidy case, period!

Don't mind my "o" in otedola, he no longer deserves the capital "O".

  18. ....or you all don't think they are just trying to take our eyes away from the petroleum report? After the plane crash ish failed to work as a big diversion, they brought this up. Remember the Pension bill? Our attention was diverted to Unilag and some other issues that rose up. Boko Haram remains a concurrent diversion plan-The use of death. Let's all think. See as long as we remain Blacks,we can never put on the character of the "almost clean" White people. If everyone that has condemned these people on the media, here or otherwise gets the opportunity to get your family out of the decades of poverty it has suffered and still secure a future for that your son,i bet we wouldn't mind the discrimination coupled with it afterall we can always have a thanksgiving service when we get out of a 2yrs luxurious jail term. What about the chairman of your local government? Your boss at that your small company? some of us are not even honest to our wives or family members when it comes to that devil called money. If we are to write about all the corrupt institutions in this country,we would type on the back of our computers. I have resolved to stop fully lashing these people a long time ago but to think of how I can get somewhere(public/private)too and make some of this cash BUT ultimately i'ld remember that 6yrs old girl that leaves home as early as 5.30a.m with her mother to sell or the 38yrs old man trying to scam a 17yrs old girl of her $300 online and still give something out. Yes you can reply me and say you are the unique uncorrupt Nigeria but deep down inside,I wish these billions they own was mine dunno about you. Do you also know that it takes alot to remain honest in the midst of a corrupt community? Some of the people didn't go with corrupt minds but what would they do when you are threatened of being fired after like 25yrs of hardwork, killed or publicly silenced? what do you do when the other option is to take this money and be like them. Governance or leadership in Nigeria has gone beyond emotional talks, there is more to it. I mean when did all these almongeres start going to school that they are all ministers now? What exposure have they had internationally? Can you count how many Hausas including women are Ministers and D.Gs? Do you believe even Fani-kayode was also talking during that fuel subsidy time on air? That dude was sacked for misappropriation of funds. But in conclusion,I am not saying corruption is the first thing to come in in governance but it has to be a part of it. It's a must and managing it to the least is the way to follow. What I am saying is that what has the interviews on Channels TV everyday changed? How far has the people's opinion helped? Does Jonathan even watch AIT or Channels? Do we matter at all? All these people bring things up,watch our reactions and then come up with counter-plans that will yield yet another issue and it goes on and on like that. I hope you weren't expecting to read a solution to these issues because I am in it too and my eyes can't even see how far the problems have gone. I am stuck here too and before time goes my brother, find your way into Nigeria. Stop looking at Nigeria with a New Zealand eyes. I am an undergraduate pursuing a second degree and believe me man I am scared of graduating without a job. These days na to start to dey apply for job from 100L ooo so that before 4yrs(if in private uni) you go job even if na assistant receptionist.

  20. Otedola is referred to as 'billionaire Oil Mogul'. This is how he made his billions: getting paid for goods and services not supplied and delivered. These are the kind of people Nigerians celebrate. Can somebody be purnished for once!!

  21. Bribery has been one of the major challenges facing the whole world. This is pronounced in Nigeria only because the institutions that are supposed to fight bribery and corruption are weak and not effective. Farouk Lawan is just a victim of what could have happened to an average Nigerian who occupies same position. There are 'offers' that are just irresistible. To me,the so called scandal is not a surprise at all.

Come to think of it;the whole thing looks like a carefully planned arrangement targeted at achieving some defined personal objectives. It is not natural that someone who wants to bribe a person would do that in collaboration with a government security agency that should not even know about it at all. This may have been planned and perfectly executed to achieve what everyone is seeing now. Farouk Lawan should have known
that:'a wise man does not test the depth of a river with both legs'.

  22. Can't we have a revolution like other countries? We keep complaining and are not ready to do anything. These leaders also know that. These are the people Boko Haram should be killing as they are stealing money meant for the poor, instead they are killing their fellow poor people. Until we get to the point of saying enough to these thieves through a revolution, things will continue this way.

  23. What is happening to our sense of justice in this nation? A blackmailer and extortionist is caught red handed and someone is suggesting that the victim of the blackmail and extortion should be arrested as well.
Infect, this shameful and despicable act of Dishonorable Faruk casts serious doubts in my mind about the committees report! The legislature should hands off the issue of the oil subsidy completely. Instead, let crack investigators from the EFCC and the ICPC go through the evidence with a tooth comb and find out those who are really guilty and those whose names were entered therein because they refused to bribe the committee. The whole thing stinks
