The Aviation Sector suffers still: Power outage delays flights at Lagos airport

Aero Contractors flight schedules, were, yesterday, disrupted by power outage at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2, MMA2, Lagos.

A source gathered that the outage occurred early in the morning, as flights from 7:30 through 8:45 were affected.

Aero Contractors first flight for the day was affected as take-off was delayed for more than 30 minutes.

A passenger, who was on board Aero’s first flight, told a source that his flight was delayed owning to the power outage.

He said: “According to the pilot, the Control Tower was not working due to power problem. We were in the aircraft for about 30 minutes waiting to take-off.”

When contacted, Public Relations Officer of Bi-Courtney, Mr. Steve Omolade, denied the claim, saying that there was no power outage at MMA2.

He said: “It is not true, we don’t have any light out. I had been in the office since 7am, we don’t have any Control Tower here, so how does it affect flight operations? Our work is to keep up the terminal building and we have been doing that perfectly.”
