The Senate has challenged former President Olusegun Obasanjo to name the “rogues and armed robbers” he reportedly said were members of the National Assembly.
Senate spokesman, Enyinnaya Abaribe, told journalists in Abuja that the chamber would not be dragged into a diatribe with Obasanjo.
He, however, said it would be in the interest of the nation for Obasanjo to name the felons.
Obasanjo made the allegations at the fourth annual national conference of the Academy for Entrepreneurial Studies, Nigeria, in Lagos on Tuesday in Lagos.
He had said, “Integrity is necessary for systems and institutions to be strong. Today, rogues, armed robbers are in the state Houses of Assembly and the National Assembly. What sort of laws will they make?
“The judiciary is also corrupt. During my tenure, many of the corrupt judges were removed, some are still there.
“If the Judiciary becomes corrupt, where is the hope for the nation? Justice, no doubt, will go to the highest bidder. The judiciary did not see anything wrong with a former governor but the same set of evidence was used to sentence him in the United Kingdom.
“The police are even worse. Well, I will not lament; I will only say, ‘let us understand our problems and emphasise the good ones.” Obasanjo said

The man is saying the truth but he is a part of the problem. He didn't do enough to combat the situation when he was in power. Well, ℓ̊ feel he should keep his mouth shut ąЙd̶̲̥̅̊ say nothing further on this. He is a part of the rouge. He portrayed the attribute during his scond term campaign
ReplyDeleteThough he too is not clean but the man is saying the truth and truth is always bitter. Every Nigerian knows this. No need of calling OBJ to come and name them.
ReplyDeleteIncluding obasanjo himself, they are all rogues
ReplyDeleteWhy asking OBJ to name the rogues and robbers? Every Nigerian knows all politicians are what he (OBJ) said, including himself of course! When bones are mentioned, the old woman is worried - that is what is troubling the National and States Assemblies members. You are all rogues and thieves, period and as it is said - 99 days for the thief, 1 day for the owner. You will all be choked by the peoples' will, either you or your kit and kin will bear the consequences of your looting and extravagances. keep enjoying your loot, drive the biggest cars in the country, go around with tight security, send your children to schools and medical care abroad and live in the best houses in the world. The time will come when revolting Nigerians will destroy all these your kit and kin, luxurious life styles etc. God punish you all until your dying days.
ReplyDeleteGod Punish Nigeria politicians.Obj is right, but for him God is already punishing him.
ReplyDeleteHe, himself is the father of all rogues, armed robber and fraudster....Afterall, he singlehandedly positioned this country to where it is today....Posterity of the yet-to-be-born children would not forgive Oba-wowo and his so-called political allies
ReplyDeletewe need to appreciate the boldness of this man.lets focus on what he said not on his past.the present national assembly is a disgrace to this nation.just take a critical look at the activities of these people, then you will know that Obasanjo is very correct.
ReplyDeleteWhy wouldn't they corrupt? Tell me how many of them got there genuinely ; they steal votes, they collected loan from banks; they bribed judges at the tribunals with too much money and they have to pay back the money and make gains also.
ReplyDeleteAll the money would be recovered from innocent Nigerians tax. Nothing good can come out of PDP belief me unless we keep suffering for life. OBJ thanks for saying the truth.
Truth shall set you free. For the fact that OBJ has accepted that he is inclusive, I hereby ask him to go and sin no more.
With current situations in Nigeria, shameless person will ask OBJ to prove his utterance. Where these people when the judiciary in Nigeria did not see Chief James Ibori as a criminal with the same evidence used to sentence him in the United Kingdom.
ReplyDeleteUnpatriotic person will support importation of refined oils into Nigeria while millions Nigerians move around without job.
Servants of devil destroyed our schools, hospitals and factories for blood money they collect from foreigners.
