Umuada Igbo, a non-governmental organisation of women from the Igbo-speaking states, plans to help blacks of African descent to trace their roots.
Already, the group is discussing with some African Americans, Caribbean Americans and West Indians on how to synergise to achieve the aim.
The President of the group, Lolo Kate Ezeofor, said at a meeting of the group in Enugu on Tuesday, that the home-coming initiative would help the blacks, especially those of Igbo descent, to trace their roots.
Ezeofor said those she discussed the issue with in America showed enthusiasm about the plan and were ready to send 200 persons to the various Igbo-speaking states to interact with the people.
She said the blacks had fair knowledge of their countries of origin based on cultural affiliations but did not know exactly where they migrated from.
Ezeofor said other stakeholders were being involved in the plan, saying that the home-coming had been scheduled for early 2013. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
