Fulani under the aegis of the MIYETTI Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and Cattle Sellers Association of Nigeria have given a-three day ultimatum to President Goodluck Jonathan to visit Potiskum and sympathise with the victims of the cattle market that was attacked last Wednesday, failing which they threatened to deny the entire country livestock supply.
A communiqué issued to reporters jointly signed by Khalil Bello, Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder Association of Nigeria (Yobe chapter) and Alhaji Musa Mairago, Chairman of the Cattle Sellers Association of Nigeria, shortly after a meeting in Potiskum, read in part: “We have given President Jonathan three days with effect from May 7 to visit Potiskum or send a delegation to come and see what has happened and sympathise with the people. He should compensate the families of the victims. If not, we will stop the sale and supply of livestock across the nation from Friday, May 11 to 21.”
The statement also called on the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, to send a delegation to see the Potiskum massacre.
The statement hailed Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State for his timely intervention by visiting the scene of the incident and victims in the hospital.
Gaidam has urged security operatives to be more proactive in dealing with the insecurity facing the nation.
He condemned the attack on the Potiskum International Cattle Market by unknown gunmen, describing it as “heinous and despicable.”
“I call on our security and intelligence personnel to do more by carrying out operations to fish out criminals and stop them before they carry out their activities,” the governor said.
He was at the market to sympathise with the victims. He announced the establishment of a committee made up of senior government officials and officials of the cattle market association to assess the damage done to the market with a view to getting it rebuilt by the state government.
Gaidam said free medical treatment would be given to the 34 victims admitted at the Potiskum General Hospital and the families of the deceased would be supported.
He prayed that God should grant the victims quick recovery and give the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

was the President the one that orchestrated the massacre. Though we all sympathize with the general insecurity in that part of the Country, it is not every thing that happens that will warrant the President visiting. It is like asking a 90 year old man to attend the wake keep of his 50 year old son.

ReplyDeleteyou see what happens when a President of a Nation is Dense, imagine Cattle rearers expecting the President of a Nation to Leave his duties to symphatize with them, very soon every begger on the street will start giving conditions to Nigeria President too.NONSENSE
ReplyDeleteI find the mentality of people Hilarious sometimes....its not a bad thing to expect some words from the president, on the other hand, Ultimatum! lool

ReplyDeleteI think someone needs to educate these group of Nigerians that the Governor that visited them represents the country's government. I think they went extreme by giving ultimatum to the President couple with the threat not to supply meat until 21st May 2012. Perhaps, they do not realise that they are tying down capital by refusal to sell their cattle. Hum! if you say education is expensive, ignorance is costlier.
ReplyDeleteLet them stop the supply of cow, and start eating them themselves_ I dey laff
ReplyDeleteFellow Nigerians, it is with great surprise to hear that people are trying to persuade our dear President – Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to have a direct talk with the so called Boko Haram killers. Where on earth should such destroyers call on their president without any bit of regard on his person / office, issue an automaton of going to commit more havoc to lives and properties should the president fail to yield to their call?
ReplyDeleteThe Evil Agender Uknow to Nigerians
(1). In abid to actualize the EVIL agenda of the BOKO HARAM, president GEJ has been marked to be killed in disguise of requesting that a direct talk with him should be organized.
This is a set up by whoever that did it, to have Nigerian president killed (this Ijaws will not take lightly), throw Nigerians into War, spilt the nation, disrupt the government of a southerner which is the bedrock of NORTHERNERS PROVOKATION.
(2). GEJ is neither a weak nor I- don’t- Care Leader as many have summarized him for. The truth remains that supporters of BOKO HARAM are almost in every sector of GEJ government, including both the National Assembly and the Judiciary. GEJ is not alone in government, he adopts team spirit in relating with his cabinet which majorly have Boko Haram Fans.
(3). GEJ means WELL for Nigerians, even till now! Forces against his government from within and without are numerous. We all owe him our prayers to deliver. Boko Haram or its likes has discovered that killing GEJ is the most easiest way to finally distabilised not only Southern person as president but as well destroy Nigeria. A killer is a tool in the hands of Satan to carry out his act of Klling, stealing, and destroying. Boko Haram has the spirit of the devil who means No GOOD FOR ANY ONE. The truth is Nobody can successfully end BH. Kill all her members / Fans, in the process of time the spirit goes into others willing to achieve the devils aim. Adam and Eve were recorded as the ones who obeyed the devil’s voice, thereby sinning against God. They are dead, yet sin is still been committed by so many in this world. The spirit behind BH is of Satan. You can only minimize the effect of their existence but not to totally eradicate them. Only God can. But this will happen when Satan, his followers, and his agents are finally thrown into the LAKE OF FIRE.
In case you are in doubt of this writeup, simply note this date, and make documentation of this writeup and watch events that unfold in the years ahead.
Surely, a revolution that will lead to serious murder of our past leaders and others who are enemies of Nigeria is eminent. Let God open your eyes. You should prepare for the WORST POSSIBLE NOT THE WORST PROBABLE. The northerners have their secret agenda.
Late Abacha tried to Islamised Nigeria, he failed. Look at the Shape of National Assembly complex – that of mosque! Be wise Nigerians. Be reahy for the untold about events happening, so that you will not be taken unaware. Make peace with God and prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ.
God save Nigeria, Nigerians who are true patriots, help GEJ to take Nigeria forward in Jesus name, amen.
Most fulani herdsmen are illiterates & their action is not surprising. They are suffering for incubating a terrorist group for religious and political purpose. Their cattle business contributes nothing to the federation account. The Yobe State Government should be able to address the issue.
ReplyDeleteDey are not serious. We don't need their meat any longer.stupid people.
ReplyDeleteThis is BLACKMAIL and a CRIME. We are lucky they had committed a tactical error by identifying themselves with the so-called ultimatum. If anything goes wrong, the security agencies know who to go after. Fulani Herdsmen: the same group that has been killing people in Jos?
ReplyDeleteso because they are illiterate they deserve to be killed? listen to urselves cos you all are the ignorant ones. the leaders of this country are the problem. it is a pity they have supporters in fools like you
ReplyDeleteYou people are just as ignorant as the Fulani herdsmen. But what makes yours worst than the fulani herdsmen is that it seems to me you went through school because I can see u write in english. You are all bunch of morons. Imagine what somebody is saying that the National assembly is in a shape of a mosque. Only because it has a dome? And there for Nigeria is been islamised. Have u heard of a place called Capitol Hill. Or many other buildings of similar architectural design. In countries dominated by a Christian government. I only hope you are able to comprehend what I am saying as I just realized you are illiterates who claim to know but know nothing
