The Police are on red alert across the country today on the occasion of the Children’s Day celebration.
The security measure, ordered by Acting Inspector General Mohammed Abubakar , is to check any attempt by terrorists to cash in on the celebration to kidnap or attack innocent children.
The Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, said yesterday in Abuja that the IG directed all Zonal AIGs and Command Commissioners of Police to “ensure that adequate security is provided at all venues of the Children’s Day Celebration across the country”.
He added: “The Commissioners of Police and other heads of Police formations are further directed to collaborate with all relevant government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders to ensure that the kids enjoy their day without any hitch”.
The IGP wished every Nigerian child “wonderful celebration” but advised them to use the celebration to reflect on what they can contribute positively to their fatherland.
He urged them to shun cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractices, violence and crimes in all forms and learn to live in peace with one another.
He stressed the importance of hard-work, discipline, selflessness and obedience to laws as the spring boards to their dreams and aspirations. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
