Alamieyesigha urges FG to Legalise bunkering

Former Bayelsa State Governor Diepreye Alamieyesigha has advocated for the legalisation of bunkering in the Niger Delta

Alamieyeseigha said foreigners are the masterminds of bunkering in the region.
He urged stakeholders to prevail on President Goodluck Jonathan to issue licences for the legalisation of bunkering.

The former governor spoke at a ceremony in honour of the late Ijaw hero, Isaac Boro, in Yenagoa.

He said: "There is one thing happening in our area now. I read in the papers about oil theft. About 17 per cent of our production is taken away.

"Our people are not sophisticated enough to go into high-level bunkering. The bunkerers are not here. In the whole oil industry, how many Ijaw people are lifting oil?

"To address the poverty that is so endemic among our people, there should be licences for bunkering.

"The Ijaw man is not yet emancipated economically. The fight is not over, we must be economically liberated.

"There is a thin line between economy and power. They complement each other. My brothers and sisters, let us unite. We should obtain licences for bunkering.

"We have a president of our own, we have a minister of petroleum, who will stop us from obtaining bunkering licences?

"Ask, it shall be given, knock it shall be open. No need to go behind the door. Let us confront our brother and get what we want for our people."

Alamieyeseigha extolled the legacies of the late Boro, whom he described as the architect of the survival of the Ijaw nation.

"People must look at those areas that we have been impoverished and fight for it. We know that nobody will give you power on a platter of gold; you demand for it, you fight for it. It is our own," he noted.

  1. Somebody should tell this old man to shut up ąЙd̶̲̥̅̊ stop speaking in public. He is a thief ąЙd̶̲̥̅̊ corrupt leader who has nothing good to offer. The fact that this idea is coming from him makes it ungodly ąЙd̶̲̥̅̊ lacks credibility

  4. ...Its just a shame that a known thief who is supposed to be languishing in jail is now talking, and people now see him as a hero; that's the level of moral decadence we've found ourselves in Nigerdelta region.
When other regional leaders are encouraging their youths to engage in Godly ventures, a so called ijaw leader is encouraging his broda to legalise bunkering!!! what a total shame? i just hoe that the mumu oin Aso rock will not heed the call to show the love fro his people....God save Nigeria and take care of all this corrupt people!
Boko Harm, Please, descend on all these thieves and bomb them silly!!!

  7. It is sad that a lot of Nigerians just like Alams-the self acclaimed Gov. General of Ijaw nation do not know the meaning of bunkering. Oil bunkering or bunkering in itself does not suggests or means illegality. What is wrong or unlawful is illegal bunkering.

  10. The whole issue about bunkering in Nigeria is still not clear. However, Why blaiming Alameisigha when the Northern governors will always meet only on things that concern the North? Now, they met recently to fight against Jonathan' reelection bid in 2015 rather than resting their cases on the best Nigerian that can win the votes of the majority. Boko Haram is fighting to liberate the North from having anything to do with other parts of Nigeria. In my opinion, Alameisigha may be evil in some people' opinion, but we should also look inward and see whether his evil actions are systemic, beside, why did we fail to ask his reasons for asking that illegal bunkering should be legalized? We may know more than we think we do.......

  11. Bunkering is derived from bunker . bunker is a hole/tank use for storage of fuel, While bunkering is supply of fuel to a ship or a tank or otherwise pipeline . So whoever engage in lifting oil from storage ,offcourse they will transport it offshore via a vessel/tanker. So when fuel is lifted , transported or supply without goverment permit then it becomes ilegal bunkering.

  12. This shows high level of systematic failure and lack of morale among our so called leaders and politicians. OBJ said it all a night ago; he knows them better than some of us do. No wonder most of them are afraid of him. ( I am not in any way saying OBJ is a saint).
Even if Alamieyesigha is fighting for the liberation there is better ways of doing it other than asking for legalization of a deal and name that connotes illegality. This shows his understanding of the word bunkering.
Why is Alamieyesigha not asking for oil blocks or use the money he looted to register a company that will be producing/lifting oil, which will provide jobs for Ijaw youths. God, descend on men like this in our region. This is the type of people we don't want in leadership position again. Someone that should be thanking God for saving him from the wrath of British court, that his neighbor Ibori was caught up with, still has the courage to instigate Ijaw youths.
I will advice all Ijaw youths to vote against any politician that is allying with this man in the next election.

  13. Ingrate man of the century.

After looting our treasury , you still have gut to open your stinky mouth .

Please tell his Brother ( GEJ) to arrest this man for instigating innocent youth of Ijaw against the will of Nigeria.

What is solution to all these rubbish that is happening in Nigeria ?

I THINK WE NEED TO SEPARATE PEACEFULLY .

    TRUTH IS BITTER

  14. People should stop invitating these fellows to puplic gathering not even to allow them speak. Jesus said, from the abundance of the heart speaketh the mouth. He is the leader of those engaged in bunkery. We know his past and Mr. President and Petroleum minister will not listen to him.
