Nigerian Musician, Dapo “D’banj” Oyebanjo popularly known as "D'Banj" decided to visit the Chioce FM in London recently to hang out with MAx (Presenter)
He talked on his life after Mo Hits and his new name with the British presenter.
He also opens up on his post Mo Hits venture and his new name with the delectable radio presenter, who takes her time to pick on the Nigerian music icon’s use of the word “kokolette”.
Spotting a new “jesus piece” handed to him by the CEO of Good Music, Kanye West, D’banj gives a hint on his new partners to the highly british-accentuated presenter and endorses her remix of his hit song Oliver Twist.

ReplyDelete@Amaechi, Did you watch the interview at all? D'Banj said, they gave him a new name. It was just the way when he said, his Ghanian friends call him Mensah and his South African friends call him Capella. This is how people take things out of context.

ReplyDeleteThe last two comments before mine are the people who actually watched the video before commenting.....prudent people. Mr Amaechi, did u watch the video? You dont have to like someone, its not by force, but if u must judge or condemn someone, atleast base it on clear facts and observations. That he was called that in London doesnt mean he has changed his stage name. Nigerianeye also are to blame, they presented the interview with a misleading caption.

However, lets give the Naija superstar (my favourite so far) a benefit of a doubt and lets ask him why he did that! Perhaps, Anderson is his second name or part of his names, who knows?
ReplyDeleteQuite a number of superstars have done dis and are still waxing strong and are relevant...eg Sean Puffy combs(also known as P.diddy, Puff daddy, Diddy, etc)....perhaps bcos this is kinda new in this part of the world (for pple to change their stage names or could it be bcos this is coming around the same time with the Mohits saga(which people are blamming him for and taking sides with Don baba J- cos he's the quiet and seemingly more matured one?)...hmmmm....
in all, I think u all have some points or two...but give it up for this dude...he's made alot for him self and music industry (with the help of Don baba J, no doubt)in a short period of time and dares to do much greater things that many would be so so afraid to dabble into and remain "LOCAL CHAMPIONS"...e.g...(make i no talk)...lol...
Please lets note that he's just a human being like any of us and is bound to do somethings that others(including his fans) might not be happy with and he's bound to make mistakes and learn from 'em.....That's Life!!!
His Dbanj or Skibanj like his Jamo friends call him, Mensah like his Ghanian friends call him and Dapo Anderson like his London friends (and all of us) will call him...

ReplyDeleteGuys, easy does it. D'banj said during the interview that his friends in London now call him Daniel Anderson, this to me doesn't amount to D'banj having changed his name. You know how media always blows things out of proportion. D'banj is only testing the deep waters and we all should be hopeful for him. We all seemingly make mistakes sometimes, noone really knows yet if the step he has taken is the wrong one.
