A Lagos-based clergy, Pastor Aba Peter, who allegedly went to a palace and attempted to preach and pray to a monarch in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, has ended up in prison custody.
The 42-year old pastor was held by the monarch’s aides and handed over to the police where he was charged to Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court with attempt to steal and loitering.
The incident happened at Ifoshi Road in the palace of Oojon of Ejigbo, Oba Moruf Ojoola.
Pastor Peter was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos after he was granted bail and he failed to meet the conditions.
The pastor claimed that contrary to what the police at Ejigbo station charged him with he wanted to enter the palace to preach and pray.
He explained that he had not even entered the palace before the Oba’s aides held and accused him of loitering and attempting to steal in the palace.
He was handed over to the police who subsequently charged him to court.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned, while he was remanded in custody.
Sources gathered that the pastor usually preaches in the area but was unlucky to have ended up that way on the fateful day.

ReplyDeleteThis is the same traditional ruler that was swindled by a Journalist a while ago.
The case took this turn because of the incapability of the Nigeria Police. This is because the veracity of the Pastor's claim to spreading the word of God should have been investigated vis-a-visa the Monarch's claims and a detailed report put-up in that regard.Hence, there are testimonies that the Pastor is a regular preacher within that area. So,the Police should have considered like factors to determine whose claims to be debunked, rather adjudging the case on social status or placement. And allowing ,perhaps an innocent preacher to suffer injustice and languish in jail. After all, there nothing wrong in taking the the word of God to the doorstep of a Monarch or could he be an atheist or holds a contrary belief to that of the said man of God?This case should be meticluously considered in the light of all its deservable merits and demerits.
ReplyDeleteThere is no King as God, if they refuse to bow to their maker now while they are still interested in their diabolic ways, for they will surely bow down on the last day but it might be too late. As for the Pastor keeping on doing the work God sent you so far you are doing it in good faith for God will surely rewarded you, it is one of the price you have to pay just as Jesus Christ pay the price on the cross of Calvary, don't allow any power, position, personality to deprive you from God's work. God bless you for going through this challenge.
