Lagos State Government declares war on rapists

The Lagos State Government on Saturday raised the alarm over what it called alarming rate of rape in the state, saying it will stamp out the crime.
It described rape and other forms of violence against women and underage as a violation of human rights.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Ibirogba, said the full weight of the law would be applied against offenders, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Incidents of child rape, gang rape and serial rape have been gaining currency in the news across the country.

“Perpetrators are hereby warned that the law against such heinous crimes is still in force and before long; we will catch up with the offenders.

“They will be liable to prosecution and possibly jail terms… rape is becoming the order of the day in the country,” Ibirogba said in a statement.
He, however, called on parents to be more vigilant to prevent their children, particularly girls and children from falling victims of rapists.

“I enjoin parents to monitor their children on their mode of dressing in order to avoid any provocative exposure, which could make them easy target for these undesirable elements in the society.

“While not blaming the victims for the devilish acts, the state government condemns the current practice whereby some parents allow and even encourage their children to wear all sorts of provocative dresses in the name of modernity,” the statement warned.

The commissioner urged parents to inculcate in their children decent dressing, good moral upbringing, honesty and leadership traits.

“I wonder why some people have turned to animals to the extent of just pouncing on strange people to rape them,” the commissioner added in the statement.

  1. In most cases, rape is premeditated. Women and underage persons are raped by persons they trust. Though it is still possible for strangers to rape persons they have never met before. Dressing provocatively could put one in the position to be sexually assaulted but truth be told some perpetrators have X-ray eyes and do not even need their victims to dress provocatively before they pounce.

Women are not the only ones who are at risk of getting raped, even men. So guys beware because your B***hole is also at risk.

Rapists (man or woman) should be brought to justice.
