Its Chairman Rev Lawi Pokti gave the advice at the weekend while speaking with reporters on the significance of Good Fridayand Easter Monday in Bauchi.
The cleric’s appeal came hours before members of the deadly Boko Haram sect struck in Kaduna State.
He said: “We must forgive each other, the attackers of churches all over the country should be forgiven so that peace will reign and Nigeria should progress, in the spirit of unity and brother hood will be strengthened.”
Pokti challenged politicians to imbibe the spirit of true patriotism, love, togetherness, fear God and work hard to fulfill the promises they made during election campaigns to ease the sufferings of the masses
He described Easter as the foundation of Christianity all over the world.
“The day being the climax of the Holy week which was characterised by sober reflection, humane, I admonish Christians in the country to emulate the divine qualities of Jesus Christ which is an embodiment of victory and salvation for mankind,’’ the cleric said. Where was the church establishment while our politians were venting the most evit corruption on us that has led to this poverty, joblessness and terrorism? You guessed it right, in bed with the same corrupt elites and bestowing blessings on them.
ReplyDeleteThis has gone beyond forgiveness because we cannot fold our hands on a daily basis seeing our fellow Christians wasting blood like a sacrifice, retaliation or better still may be people should stop going to churches since their target is after churches but that cannot be possible at the same time, but if we are to attack mosque just as they are doing i think equation will balance and they may step down since they value their bastard, dirty, blind and blood shared nonsense religion.Honestly, time will tell when God judgement will come upon these boko haram because they will cough all the blood they have shared and everlasting torment will follow.
