A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent, who monitored the situation, reports that all the airlines departing Enugu for Abuja and Lagos rescheduled their morning flights to late afternoon, apparently to enable them to sort out the problem.
NAN also reports that as at 10.30 a.m., no flight had departed or landed at the airport.
Some of the passengers who spoke with NAN expressed disappointment over the rescheduling, which they said had been experienced since the beginning of the week.
Mr. Obini Onuchukwu, a passenger, said he had missed an important meeting slated for 2p.m, which was important for his business.
“It has been a very unpleasant experience here at the airport. I was to board a flight for 8.50 a.m; unfortunately the flight has been rescheduled for 2 p.m.
“The annoying thing is that the airline could not even tell us on time about the development so that one can make alternative arrangements. This is sad,” he said.
Another passenger, Onyinye Gabriel, said she had missed a visa appointment scheduled for the afternoon and wondered what she would do.
“I was here as early as 7.30 a.m. to catch a flight for 8.30a.m only to be told that the flight has been rescheduled for afternoon. What do I do now?” she queried.
One of the airline attendants who preferred anonymity attributed the problem to scarcity of aviation fuel being experienced in the country.
He, however, said efforts were being made to resolve the problem and appealed to the passengers to be patient.
