LASU management re-opens SUG building

All hopes that the management of Lagos State University (LASU), has re-instated  its  suspended Students' Union Government (SUG) were dashed last Tuesday, even though the SUG building (ARCADE), which was put under lock and key, was opened by the management.

Investigations gathered by QUADLIFE revealed that re-opening of the building came in the wake of complaints tendered to the institution's management by business operators operating within the building, who pleaded for re-opening to continue their normal and lawful businesses, as they have been shut out since last December.

However, it would be recalled that the University Senate, last December, suspended the activities of LASU SUG on campus, putting its building under lock and key, following students unrest over hike in tuition fees of new students.

Reacting to the development, the Secretary, Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU), Comrade Daniel Shittu, said he hoped that the union will be reinstated very soon. "Following the re-opening of the union's Arcade, I hope the union will be re-instated in the next Senate sitting of the university."

Also reacting, Adejare Adebayo, a computer business occupant of one of the shops, said the university gave the business owners some compulsory prerequisites before they could  get back to business. "  We all went to the school management to tender our complaints and we were asked to go and write letter in respect of our pains.

"We wrote the letter that the management should come to our aid, and I believe the management has done well by re-opening the building for us to continue with our normal business activities."
