AIYIM stated this on Wednesday when its leadership paid a condolence/solidarity visit to the eldest son of the ex-Biafran warlord, Dr. Sylvester Debe Ojukwu, in Nnewi.
The Anambra State Coordinator of the group, Mr. Ifeanyi Target Chigbo, said its members have mounted surveillance in all the strategic places to detect and expose Boko Haram operatives at the various burial venues.
Chigbo, who led hundreds of youths on a procession with Ojukwu's son, on the traditional "Icho mmadu" to symbolically search for Ojukwu, noted that the late Biafran leader was a symbol of unity and justice.
He said any attempt to ridicule his final rite of passage would be resisted, especially as he said, the burial of Ojukwu did not in anyway affect the agitations of the sect.
"We are aware of rumors of attack by Boko Haram, but we are ready for them. No person or group of persons has monopoly of violence and Igbo youths cannot be intimidated in their own fatherland," he said.
The patron of the group and the Ogirishi Igbo, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, said the Intelligence Department of the youth body were gathering information on the movement of Boko Haram and were ready to match them force with force.
Debe said he felt encouraged that the youths had decided to join in giving his late father a befitting burial.
"Their contribution is special to me because they are the ones that will carry on with the propagation of the ideals of my late father," he added.
Commending Nigerians for the goodwill they had shown to his father, Debe said the Ojukwu family was overwhelmed by the outpouring of emotions by Ndigbo, which he said was a commensurate appreciation of his late father's contributions to the emancipation of Ndigbo in particular and Nigerians in general.
