I still feel my father around me – Giringori’s son

Uche Iroha, son of the late actor and creator of the rested TV comedy series, Masquerade, James Iroha, has said that although the comedian is no more, the family is consoled.
The consolation comes from the works he left behind, especially seven musical albums the deceased did not release.

The actor, who battled blindness for years, died in the early hours of Tuesday of what Uche attributed to blood pressure and old age.
Uche told our correspondent on the telephone on Wednesday  that the Iroha family was proud of his father's legacy, saying it made them feel he was still alive.
He said, "I have been listening to my father's works. So, I don't have a feeling that he is no more but rather I feel him all around me. That is how the entire family feels and that is how we want the nation to feel about him."

Movie producer, Lancelot Imasuen, described Giringory's death as a tragedy for the industry where he created some of the best comedy characters in the industry. But he lamented that most Nigerian entertainers only become heroes after their death.

He said, "It is very sad. Definitely, we will all die but how much was he celebrated when he was alive? That is why a lot of us try to live a bigger life so that we don't become heroes only when we are dead."
Uche added that the family had been holding meetings on Giringori's burial.

The Director-General of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilisation, Prof. Tunde Babawale, described his death as a tragic loss to the arts and culture community.
Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, in a statement extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and the people of Abia.
"The death has robbed us of a humanist and entertainer," he said.
The Masqeurade lead character, Chika Okpala, also known as Zebrudaya, said he was still in shock over the death of Giringori.

Zebrudaya's aide, Mr. Godswill Uko, said, "My boss is still in shock. Since he heard about the death of Giringori he has not been himself. I only pray he would be strong enough to perform his duties at the burial of Ojukwu on Thursday and Friday."
Former Director-General, Nigerian Film Corporation, Eddie Ugboma, expressed regrets that Nigerians were fond of making noise when a star was dead.

A popular film producer, Zeb Ejiro, said Iroha's death was a sad story.
"It is a shame that James Iroha died in penury. May his soul rest in peace," Ugboma said.
An actress, Ibidun Allison, popularly known as Amebo in the defunct Village Headmaster television series, said Iroha's death was a sad news for the art industry and for Nigerians.
