The Christian Association of Nigeria on yesterday in Abuja stated that the unity of the country would no longer be feasible if Boko Haram carries out its threat to exterminate Christians.
The President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, who said this at a press briefing, observed that the “absolute lack of security was a major concern to the body.”
He said, “The implications of an insecure nation need not be over-emphasised. What is at stake is the need for Christians in Nigeria to be free to practice their religion wherever they are.”
He lamented the incessant Boko Haram attacks, saying they might not be unconnected with the alleged polarisation of the security agencies.
He said, “They don’t have enough means of gathering intelligence, including the fact that security agencies are polarised along religious lines.”
Oritsejafor also accused the Federal Government of doing little to quell the attacks against Christians in the North.
The cleric said, “What we have so far witnessed in the few months in the first threat is enough for CAN to warn that if the so-called Boko Haram makes good its latest threat, Nigeria may never be the one and united country that we know.
“Our concern is not just about the terrorist methods but their views; our concern is not just about their barbaric acts, but their ideas and this is why we call on peaceful Muslims to rise up against the so-called Boko Haram.”

ReplyDeleteIts no longer news that the Boko Haram upsurge is purely Political and Religious(quite unfortunate thou). The local and international Islamic Community see it as an embarrasment for a Christian to rule a nation which they believe is an Islamic nation. If it were a muslim that we have in power, they wont have reacted. All thesame let no one be taken unaware. The worst may occur and its not just splitting but serious civil war that will ensue after the split. We wont cease to pray for peace but Nigerian should be prepared for the worst.
ReplyDeleteNaijaman! U talk as if u re god, is polities made 4 only muslim? Or is nigeria not comprises of 3 ethnic group? Y re u been selfish? God ll judge.
ReplyDeleteQuestion to ans first is whether the govermnent of man can protect the church of Christ? the solution is that we all xtians shud change our focus and turn our faiths to God. praying with Ish 37 vs 36. definitely our God will do the same in this our generation!!!
