Unsettled by the N44m bribery allegations levelled against him, the Chairman, House Committee on Capital Markets, Hon. Herman Hembe today resigned as the Chairman of the Committee.
This he did in a way to heal the Committee on Capital Markets and prove his innocency of the bribery allegations levelled against him by the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, Ms. Arunma Oteh .
Meanwhile, an eight-man adhoc committee has been named to see out the now tainted probe.
The House of Representatives has also mandated its Ethics and privilege committee to probe the allegation while the public hearing continues under the ad hoc committee to be headed by Hon Ibrahim El Sudi. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Ms. Arunma Oteh "you're a woman of civic excellence"... See how you've clipped the winds of a corrupt politician(Hon. Herman Hembe)who by all ramification has little or no brains to match U!!!
ReplyDeleteLONG LIVE YOUR TERM AS SEC BOSS. Amen...
Mama U too much!!! U'ave got-it-all(Beauty & Brain)...U luck sey u don marry...
ReplyDeleteThat is more honourable. With hembe and oteh the outcome is easily predictable. Let the adhoc committee move ahead with their work and we are all ears as events unfolds.
ReplyDeleteI really don't see reasons why anybody would be hailing the woman for successfully diverting the attention of the public probe panel. No one is on the side of the corrupt politicians for the monumental rape they keep carrying out on the wealth that belongs to all Nigerians. In my own opinion, she (Ms. Arunma Oteh) has not answered the questions posed to her- about gross abuse of office and how she mismanaged the resources of SEC. She has only employed a diversionary tactic to parry the issues at stake. They are both guilty, if these allegations are proven true, I must submit.
ReplyDeleteNigerians are watching, and the day of reckoning is near.
"Well behaved women seldom make history"-Laurel Thatcher.
ReplyDeleteWe all know that she is well read. But that shouldn't be the criteria for her to be corrupt and arrogant. She has never answer her case of corruption.
All our eyes and ears are open.
Indiscipline politicians wanting to impact discipline on fellow colleague, do you think that will be possible? the most smart will sure have the day.Nigerian politicians are corrupt, what they understand and they can pronounce very well without mistake is "Money"that is why they will ever be fools and folish, possibly they might even request to date her,i am not supporting her but what i understand from what she has just proved is that they are not worhty to probe her because they are same,so what else do we want to know.
ReplyDeleteThe weight falls on her(Ms. Arunma Oteh)side now.Does she has enough evidences for this alleged bribe? Not that she will just say it to neutralize the probe. The sides should be investigated thoroughly. The experts can even be engaged to investigate the duo. This is an interesting case which the world, not only Nigeria is waiting to see to its end.The executive should intervene on the probe, because, this will affect the country, both executive & legislative.
