Kabir Sokoto, the Boko Haram suspect who masterminded the Christmas Day Bombing of the St. Theresa Church, Madalla, would have graduated as a Nurse, according to Marylyn Ogar, Spokesperson of the Department of State Security.

“In 2005, he gained admission into the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Sokoto where he exhibited high level of truancy and extremist tendencies, a situation which accounted for his poor academic performance.

In mid-2007, he absconded again from the institution when he outright refused to re-sit some papers he failed in examination,” She narrated

He instead teamed up with friends and joined the Boko Haram sect.

Parading Sokoto, the Deputy Director, Media and Public Relations, SSS, Marilyn Ogar explained that the suspect had taken refuge at Umaisha in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State before he fled to Taraba State.

Ogar said that Sokoto was born on May 9, 1983 to the family of Umaru Jabbi of Gagi village, Sokoto South Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

Upon the death of his father, his paternal uncle, Abubakar Dikko, adopted him and he was renamed after him.

He completed his primary education at Model Primary School, Gagi town in 1996.

According to Ogar, the suspect enrolled for secondary education at the Ahmadu Bello Academy in 1996, but absconded shortly after and re-applied for admission as a fresh Junior Secondary School 1 student in Sultan Bello Secondary School, Sokoto South LGA, from where he graduated in 2003.

State Security Service on Friday paraded Abubakar Dikko, aka Kabir Sokoto, a Boko Haram operative who masterminded the Christmas Day Bombing at the St. Theresa Church, Madalla.

Sokoto who was re-arrested at the residence of an accomplice at Mutum-Biu, Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State where he was hiding Sokoto was paraded at the SSS Headquarters at a brief news conference in Abuja.

He had earlier escaped from custody on January 15, 2011 at Abaji in the Federal Capital Territory where he was being taken on a search of his apartment.

The police had declared him wanted and placed a N50 million price on his head while a Commissioner of Police, Zakari Biu and five other junior policemen were arrested and were being tried over the development.

  4. he deserves a death sentence by firing squad. That is the price for terrorism. And a lesson for his accomplice. Besides, it will go long way to show that the FG is sincerely aimed at fighting terrorism in Nigeria.

  5. His death is the only thing that can console me and many others who lost their beloved ones to the terrorism attack of the Boko Haram Sect. Any attempt by the Presidency, Judicial Mechanisms or Legislative arm to Pardon him is really going to have a consequential effects. It is a promise.

  7. The Yoruba Revolutionary Group, The Biafrian Actualization Force, The Niger Delta Militants Group are all waiting. Anything short of a death sentence on him or any attempt to release him or grant him Pardon will surely cause a civil war and a dissolution of an entity call Nigeria.
