President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, echoed the anger and frustration of the generality of Nigerians over the menace of Boko Haram in the country, saying Nigerians are tired of bombing.
The president who spoke at the official commissioning of six million metric tonnes Dangote Cement Manufacturing Plant, Ibese, Ogun State also lamented the rate of unemployment in the country, describing it is our greatest problem. He also defended the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, (GCON) given to the Chairman, Dangote group of companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote by the Federal Government.
Speaking on challenges of insecurity in the country, Jonathan said, Nigerians want to hear about commissioning of industrial plants and not bombing.
He said: "Story about commissioning is what Nigerians want to hear; Nigerians are tired of hearing that there is bomb explosion in Maiduguri or Kano or Bayelsa states. Yes, we have security challenges in the country. We have challenges in terms of infrastructure but we are totally committed individually and collectively to getting the country out of this situation. Our children want a better Nigeria than this".
On the unemployment situation in the country, President Jonathan said: "Our greatest problem as a country is the rate of unemployment. If anybody can come up with policy and programmes that will create jobs, definitely, government will embrace that person and will continue to encourage that person".

The greatest disincentive to creative thinking on unemployment is our present day structure which encourages everybody to go cap in hand to Abuja for their monthly allocation! There is no society that grows this way!!
ReplyDeletemr. president provide adequate security infrastructure for both lives and properties and job creation will automatically avail itself.
ReplyDeleteWe need adiquate sucurity in Nigeria cos Once there is adiquat security there will be development and Once there is development there will be Job creation.
ReplyDeleteNo Mr President, I disagree that unemployment is the greatest problem of Nigeria today. It is one of the problems but definitely not the greatest.
ReplyDeleteThis is an opportunity for Nigeria to rebuild her foundation and we cannot build fancy structures like employment, social development etc on a foundation that we know cannot support these fancy structures. So long as corruption remains at the base, all effort of building structures will ultimately become futile. It will continue to be a case of making all that effort to build structures that will further widen the mouth of this monster called corruption for if the foundation be destroyed, what can be done right. All the right done will be consumed by the defect in the root.
Oluwatosin Ayoola
Let us make all effort to lay a foundation for a corrupt free Nigeria in which her citizens can dream and not be afraid that their dream will be stifled by unjust environment and corruption.
na now day break for una.
ReplyDeletethis is a great sign for every body to know that the end time has come, so u better go back to the god you are serving.
ReplyDeleteIf only Mr. president can stop his lackluster attitude to national issues particularly the current insecurity situation, surely Nigeria can still be a better place for us to live.
ReplyDeleteMr. President, with due respect, you know the right things to do, but you did not do it. Was it not your present that most investor left our country due to lack of Electricity power supply? please try to do something about this power supply to enhance job opportunity
ReplyDeletena wao! nigerians, we castigate on every little thing the president says. if he says no word they say he knows nothing and therefore not fit for the sit.
ReplyDeleteThe president said i quote: 'Nigerians want to hear about commissioning of industrial plants and not bombing' and again: '... we are totally commited individually and collectively to getting the country out of this situation. our children want a better Nigeria than this'.
What does this implies? does it not impply a better life for every Nigerian?. Can industries stand without steady power supply? please lets grow up in this country for once, the president can not do this alone without us. our personal relationship is difficult for us to understand and manage how much more a complicated country like ours. cheers, GIB

Dangote is a muslim from north. but nobody say he is a boko haram in this respect. i thought they say nothing is good from a northern hauas muslim person. Buhari's personal driver uptill today is a xtain not even from his state but they castigate the man of religious bigotry upon all the record he has as regard equality and transparency which Obama of US recognised. na wa 4 naija. lets face reality and be brothers keeper. All over the world the wealth of a country is not from everywhere but a particular point/place. that oil comes from niger delta does not mean the man from adamawa or sokoto is stupid or mad. The BIBLE/ KURAN says love one another.
ReplyDeleteHelo Nigerians, lets join hands together and make nigeria a better country. Lets forget the past and face the current challenges.
