The applicant, who insisted on either getting a job or starving to death, was said to have taken his protest to the Government House in Yenagoa.
He arrived the Government House gate at about 11am and insisted on talking to Governor Seriake Dickson.
He was said to have rebuffed all efforts by security operatives to frustrate his mission and persuade him to go home.

“I want to see the governor. This is the third day of my hunger strike. I must see him or I will starve to death,” he was quoted as saying.

A source, who witnessed the incident told our correspondent that the security operatives at the gate persuaded Oyeghe to go home and come back on a weekday when the governor would be on duty.
The source, who identified himself simply as Joseph, said the applicant was persistent, arguing that since the governor’s quarters was located in the Government House, he should be allowed to see Dickson.

Following the development, the SSS operatives were said to have viewed the attitude of Oyeghe as a security breach and whisked him away to their headquarters for interrogation.
Oyeghe told our correspondent on the telephone that he was arrested by the SSS but was released after answering some questions.
He said the state Director of SSS, Mr. Andrew Iorkyar, pitied his condition and promised to take his request for employment to the appropriate authority.

He said Iorkyar persuaded him to call off his strike, promising to get back to him on March 15.
“After March 15 if nothing happens, I will go back there. I have suspended my strike till then,” he said.
Though our correspondent could not reach Iorkyar for his comments, an operative of the outfit, who pleaded anonymity confirmed the development.

Oyeghe had on Thursday declared his intention to embark on an indefinite hunger strike.
Oyeghe, who lamented the rising unemployment in the country, said he took the decision to protest the development.

Oyeghe holds a Masters degree in Literature from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He obtained his first degree in English and Literary Studies from the Niger Delta University, Amassoma in 2006.
