The Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation, Gbenga Obadara has called for resignation of the Minister for Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke, to allow fair probe into the ministry’s activities.
Obadara who represents Ogun Central Senatorial District, spoke in Abeokuta, yesterday, after a visit to his constituency. He said the Petroleum Minister, should step aside as to pave way for a genuine probe of the ministry under her watch.
He said: “The woman is not supposed to be on that seat pending the outcome of investigations into activities of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
“I am not saying that she is guilty but from the series of revelations coming from the probe, she is not innocent, she ought to resign honourably as a decent person.
“I think when speaking of corruption, it is her ministry that is highly endemic in that aspect, so let her go or be re-assigned by the President to a less sensitive ministry, if Mr. President still wants her in his cabinet.
“In these days when the clamour for probity and accountability are being demanded from our public office holders. Nigerians expect Mr. President to have asked the Petroleum Minister to step aside over the oil subsidy removal scam.
”The Petroleum Minister must leave office,at least for now to clear herself. That is what is obtainable in civilised societies of the world.”
Do you agree with him?

God will really bless this senator for speaking the truth, or i don't know if GEJ is also hiding something she is aware of because i expect the president to have ask her to step aside before now to allow transparency in the whole process, from the beginning all fingers are pointed to her doorstep.
ReplyDeleteYou can't ask a thief to look for a missing item, pls GEJ do us Nigerian a good favor to ask her to resign. i believe by now it is not a rumor that her son that is not doing anything having a private jet. This is really a funny country.................
Mr President sir, please give heed to the voice of the people,it is the voice of reason for transparency and true accountability. Let her step aside for now to give way for a true and purposeful probe. . .thank you sir.
ReplyDeleteThank you senator Obadara,That shows that we still we have some good senators. God will judge any leader that steal our money that put hardship into Nigerians. We are waiting for outcome of subsidy probe.who is not working is having private jet,a country where some worker can not eat two times from their salary,na wa o Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteNIGERIAN PUBLIC OFFICER SO ENJOY THE CRUBS OF OFFICE THEY WILL NEVER EVEN IN THE FACE OF PALPABLE EVIDENCE EVER RESIGN DUE TO CASES OF CORRUPTION, IT WILL ONLY TAKE HER BEING SACKED BUT I TELL YOU, SHE WILL NOT RESIGN WILLINGLY.
ReplyDeleteWell, if this happens(she resigns), I will believe strongly in GEJ and the probe otherwise, I will count the probe as something that will die as soon as possible and nothing will happen
ReplyDeletewhat has Gbenga Obadara done for his constituency?
ReplyDeleteWhat Obadara has done for his constituency happens not to be the issue of discussion.
ReplyDeleteThat's where we as Nigerians have always got it wrong. We leave important issues and go about witch hunting.
The man has spoken the mind of millions of Nigerians which many senators refused to do.
The minister of petroleum should step aside and allow for a sincere and honest probe of her ministry.
Remember that he that plays the piper dictates its tune, so her continued stay in office while the probe is on will only distort the report of the probe panel she set up.
we are all cowards, simple revolution cant take place in Nigeria all we know is to make mouth and shut down like wood-less fire. God will equally all leaders that dont want good for we Nigeria and less privileged fellows
ReplyDeleteI dont understand this clamour for her resignation. Or is this the continuation of the persecution from those that hate her for pushing for the PIB bill? If I must remind you,she has already started the probing of NNPC before this subsidy wahala.Come to think of it! Was she even the minister during the period that KPMG audit covered? HabaH ! Nigerians !
ReplyDeleteyeah ,the fact remain that she should step aside , cos one she is not proactive enough, she is a woman, whenever there is a corruption involved inany institution , the directives must be held . responsible, instead however she should resign to show outstanding
ReplyDeleteIt is not witchhunting. It is about weighing the credibility of who is talking. Does Obadara have any moral justification to make such ascertions? Can Nigerians trust that he has no ulterio motives? That is an important issue before the issue.
ReplyDeleteI hope she resigns as suggested by Mr. Senator Obadara. Please help me ask Mr. Senator this question: If he was in her shoes, will he resign honorably? He is only saying the truth because he is not involved. The problem we have in Nigeria is that people do not want to be "honourable" even when they are addressed so. We are still developing so let's hope that even if she refuses to resign and the president doesn't push her out, the "honourable senators/parliamentarians" will do the job truthfully. Fellow Nigerians, let us wait and watch how the whole drama unfolds. at the end of the investigation, if Senator Obadara still stand tall and call for the resignation of Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke or not. The point I am making is that Some of us start shouting like this at the begining, but say something else at the end, because somewhere in the middle, a lot of money will change hands (share in the booties) and silence is what we hear at best from the investigators. I repeat, let us wait patiently and watch the drama played, then we can pass judgement.
ReplyDeleteIs she not the one that set up the probe panel? If she is involved, let nnpc officials say so with proof else, they will go down alone. Who is afraid of Diezani?and why? She knows the industry too well and she know how the operators defraud nigeria, especially the oil majors. Now she is blocking everything to the benefit of govt and people of nigeria and they are bitter, they want her out by all means.shared money to national assembly members of the last dispensation to frustrate PIB,sponsored protests against her,now hiding under fuels subsidy removal of yesterday to ask for her removal. If i must remind you people, she worked in shell and rose to become an EXECUTIVE director.a fresh graduate in shell is already a millionaire not to talk of ED. Her husband resigned in the military as an Admiral and was chief of naval staff under the then military govt(did i hear you say too much money?)so,she does not need your dirty money to leave big.she is there to serve and correct the system.that is why she is very passionate about PIB.
ReplyDeleteGod will not allow the plan of that so called Senator to come to limelight. Why? Because this woman is one of the genuine minister Nigeria has ever had. She meant well for this nation. I am not surprise because this Senator obadara might be among the cabal or hired cabal we are looking for. So in an attempt to distract the woman an also the on going cause, may be that is why he is calling for the woma's resignation. Sen Obadara and co be warned because God's hand is highup waiting to strike all of you who are the enemy of Nigerian. Mama carry gooooooooooooooooooooooo
ReplyDeleteShe should resign for the probe to be effective. What will Obadara do for his constituency? What has any senator done for his/her constituency? Do they know what the duty of a senator is to it's people? All they know is Ghana Must Settlement for things to go on.
ReplyDeleteThe bigger they are the bigger they fall. Nigerians lack a sense of history. Who says, even if office holders are indicted or fund wanting after the probe, probity will ensue, or that whatever report results from the investigation will make any change. Lets begin with the the billions of US Dollars that went down the drain on NEPA during OBJ's era. Goodluck Nigerians.
ReplyDeleteLet's understand why Sen. Obadara is saying what he is saying. The senator is not a baby, he might be seeing what we are not seeing out there. Also, Madam Diezanni should be careful when dealing with issues of national interest, many people are already bittered about her role in the fuel price hike that took place on January 1st, 2012. God bless Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteSenator Obadara as he is called should please keep shut and do his job efficiently. why did he go to his constituency in Ogun state to tell his people that Petroleum Minister should step down. Has she disrupt the proceedings of the investigating panel or disrupting his hidden agenda. Let him please hold his peace if he does not want ghana must go to be sent to him. Has he ever worked in NNPC or Oil company before. Is he the one that appointed her. Let them leave NNPC alone.
ReplyDeleteI love madueke to the point of marriage even at her age. Anyone who speaks against Mrs. Madueke wants my trouble, as for the OFE MANU senator, he is already telling us the fake reasons why his probing has failled when the failure has not happened. He must have expecting my love to send Ghana must go bag for bribe but to his greatest chagrin Mrs.Madueke my Angel whose hand is clean did not want to bribe the fool, he decided to use another trick of calling for her resignation so as to get her attention. Yoruba people even as leaders are always cowards, why did he run to his constituency to call for her resignation. Ewu yoruba
ReplyDeleteI believe this is a matter of intersest to all Nigerians, I am of the opinion that justice be done at the end wether she steps down or not
ReplyDeleteTo the writer who calls Diezani his love, take a cue from the ancient wisdom: loving someone who doesn't love you back is like shaking the giant iroko tree to make tiny dew drops fall. So cure your crush, okay.
ReplyDeleteI think his name should be changed from 'obadara' to 'obaburu or obabaje'for his intention looks like that of rogue and cabal, 'na barau u be,pls madam carry go
