The joy of a garri seller at Ogbeogonogo market, Asaba, Delta
State, Mrs. Patience Obi, who recently gave birth to a set of
quadruplets, has been cut short, as she has no home to go to.
Although the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Afolabi Abdul-Razaak, had written off the bills following the couple’s inability to pay, another challenge before the couple is that they have been kicked out from their make shift accommodation, where they lived before the arrival of the quadruplet.
Lamenting their ordeal, father of the babies, Mr. Friday Obi, said: “We are now homeless and our belongings have been thrown out of the uncompleted building where we were living. The contractor handling the uncompleted building gave us the accommodation without telling the owner of the building.
“As I talk to you, some of our little property have been shared among friends and relatives for safe keeping.”
He added that they are now surviving on charity.
Vanguard gathered that the Medical Director of Ibrahim Afolabi Memorial hospital, Dr. Abdul-Razaak, where the babies were delivered had sent a formal letter to the state government, calling for urgent intervention in aid of the couple and the babies.
The couple had three babies before the arrival of the quadruplets.
