Eminent Nigerians including statesmen, politicians, activists, businessmen, and other stakeholders have canvassed for true federalism as the panacea to the myriad problems facing the nation.
According to the convener, and moderator of NSG, Prof. Pat Utomi" the summit was imperative and would bring prominent Nigerians to chart a way through the enormous challenges facing the nation.
"The reality of the moment is that Nigeria is clearly at the brinks but we can work our way through that."
" The dialogue will review the state of the nation and suggest best ways forward," …we owe it to our country to do something, because people are afraid that a certain prediction that the country will become a failed state by the year 2015 will be fulfilled.
"We have told ourselves that we cannot stand by and watch our nation degenerate. So, we have, after very widespread consultation, decided that this moment, a very trying moment for our country on account of what has been happening in the last couple of days, it was time to dialogue on how to get Nigeria working again."
At the national dialogue organised by the National Summit Group, NSG, Monday, in Lagos stakeholders bemoaned the socio-economic problems bedeviling the country and urged for urgent steps to save the nation from collapse.
Speakers at the event included, former Kaduna state governor Balarabe Musa, former PDP chairman, Chief Audu Ogbe, former Anambra state governor Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former Information Minister, Chief John Nwodo, former Secretary to the federal government, Chief Olu Falae, Prof. Ben Nwabueze , Chief Edwin Clark, among others.

They should discuss how these Boko Harams will be on their own even in the United Nigeria. They are setting us backward
ReplyDeleteLet's face facts: is it really not better for Nigeria to disnintegrate into its natural components??? Must it forever remain under the bondage imposed on it by the selfish colonialists - Britain, which peaked with the so-called amalgamation by mr. Lugard in 1914? In my opinion, the best gift we can bequeath to our children is to dialogue in peace on how to reverse that disastrous administrative treachery of mr. Lugard, which was for nothing but British interest. It is nice that not only Nigerians but the entire world, including Britain, is feeling the pinch today of treacherously, in 1914, forcing very diverse myriads of people, with unmatchable cultures, back-grounds, view of life, etc, etc, to become one in the name of amalgamation! Interview 100 Nigerians today and you will find that over 80 of them will make you understand that Nigeria is not one entity. I pray that Boko Haram becomes the tool to actualise the division, and I call on concerned Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike to assist to make it ppeaceful.
