BOKO HARAM BOMB ARMY, POLICE HEADQUARTERS AND PRISON IN GOMBE

On Friday 24th of february 2012, around 7:30pm in the evening yesterday, Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram Islamists launched simultaneous gun and bomb attacks on a prison, Headquarters of the 3rd Armored Division of the Nigerian Army, and a police station in the city of Gombe, a jail guard and a resident said.

The attackers staged what residents said appeared to be coordinated attacks on a main prison where some Boko Haram members are believed to be held, and on a nearby police station.

“We are under siege. A large number of gunmen have encircled the prison, shooting and detonating explosives. It is clear they are Boko Haram,” a prison warden told AFP from inside the central prison in Gombe city.

A resident, Ibrahim Yau, said gunshots and explosions rang across the city for over an hour.
“There has been shooting and bomb attacks at the district police station in the centre of the city, and also the central prison,” he said.

The prison overlooks the police station and both are situated near the palace of the tradition Muslim leader, the emir, in downtown Gombe city, the capital of a state that goes by the same name.

Meanwhile
The Gombe government has imposed a 24- hour curfew on Gombe metropolis following the attacks on Gombe Police Divisional headquarters, prison and other parts of the state
The State Commissioner for Information, Mr Habu Dawaki, who announced the curfew, said it was indefinite.
He, therefore, called on the people of the state to be law-abiding as the measure was taken to safeguard lives and property.

The attackers used explosives to bomb their targets, followed by sporadic gun-shots.

  1. Certainly coordinated. The obvious is that Boko Haram situation is beyond Nigerian Police as dignity in professionalism has been traded for the use of uniform to force and harash common law abiding Nigerians personal agrandisement in the name of stop and check, road blocks/check points etc. The question is what happened to Nigerian Army when the attack was on? at least they areknown for operationalindescrimination and effectiveness.

These blood lettings in the name of fighting for God is getting out of hand. Something need to be done to preserve the sacredness of blood otherwise, a course of violence is about to be unleashed. Course be he that cut down by the sword!!!!

  4. Sometimes one is compel to wonder the reason behind every check points where nothing was ever uncovered. We must note that unprofessional delays at checkpoints is unnecessary. The question remains ...Why the Check points before the attacks since its not producing results

  5. 1. What of the men in uniform who reportedly opened fire on innocent victims of Boko Haram who ran to them for safety?

    2. What of the Police Station that reportedly handed over people seeking refuge with them to Boko Haram?

    3. What of these series of coordinated and well-planned attacks that seems to be gradually moving southward?

    4. What of the fact that these extremists are better coordinated and better equipped than our law enforcement agents?

    5. What of the fact that these extremists have moles and agents in all government agencies (including Aso Rock)?

All these questions need answers FAST!
