The Supreme Court on 24th february 2012, sacked the Governor of Kebbi state, Usman Saidu Nasamu Dakingari from office. The Court ordered INEC to conduct a fresh guber elections.
Justice Onnoghen in the lead judgement overturned the earlier ruling of the Court of Appeal, which had upheld Dakingari's election.
The court thereafter ordered INEC to conduct fresh election in the state within 90 days.
The lower tribunal had nullified Mr. Dakingari's election on the ground that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not provide the statutory Distribution Forms for the election.
Dakingari is late president Umaru Yar'Adua's son-in-law, his third wife is Yar'Adua's second eldest daughter, Zainab.
