FOLLOWING large number of Ndigbo returning to the East on account of incessant killings by Boko Haram, in some parts of the North, the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has opened five refugee camps in three states of the South East to provide temporary shelter for the returnees.
The Director of Information of the Movement, Comrade Uchenna Madu, who confirmed existence of the refugee camps, explained that two of the camps were each located in Imo and Anambra states, while the remaining one was sited in Enugu State.
Madu announced that MASSOB leader, Chief Uwazurike, had been dispatching buses to the troubled parts of the Northern part of the country to bring stranded easterners home.
Meanwhile, 102 returnees from Kano Monday arrived Umuahia, Abia State, courtesy of the buses sent by MASSOB.
Among the returnees were children, women and some elderly people.
Receiving the returnees at Abia Tower, along Enugu-Aba- Port Harcourt Expressway, Aba regional administrator of MASSOB, Mr. Larry Odinma, disclosed that already, over 740 persons had been evacuated from the Northern states in the last one week.
Odinma explained that MASSOB decided to open the camps to help cushion the devastating trauma the returnees might have passed through while escaping from Boko Haram attacks.
The MASSOB regional leader condemned the continued attacks and killings of people from the South-South and South-East states by Boko Haram, even as he advised easterners that might have taken the decision to remain in the North to reconsider their decision and return home.
"I know that one problem that has made these our brothers to continue staying back is that of their property, but, in any circumstance, life first before investment.
"In the East, there is more peace, and they will not be treated as sacrificial lamb each time," Odinma said.
Two victims, who were among the returnees, Mary Nwogu and Comfort Nzeadibe, said they were residing at Dakata Quarters, opposite fire Service Station, Kano.
They said they decided to leave because the situation there was grave which suggested that the Northern states were no longer safe for them.

In the event of continiuos harassment and attrocity against humanity which resulted from differences in culture and background,it becomes necessry that a particular group of people with same background and culture disengage themselves from the artificial ties which have been holding them together with other foreign groups and this is done to restore things as made by nature and for peace to reign.
ReplyDeleteUnless 1966 Aburi accord is implimented,Nigeria will never see peace,GOD is never asleep, how can you kill 3million people especially women and children who were fighting for their freedom and expect to move ahead peacefully as one country, that is not possible.Believe it or not,the spirits of those innocent igbos who died during the war will never give Nigeria peace as one country not untill what they died for is been considered.Let us all remember that Nigeria was artificially brought together by the britain out of their selfish economic interest and that has never worked for us even for once, can't we get that into our head.we should and most go back to the way GOD made us to live before the western world invaded us.Let us be wise and stop deceiving ourselves by living in forced and artificial unity.

ReplyDeleteit is quite a disgusting issue that up till now nothing meaningful has been made by the federal government to track this Islamic set (Boko-haram)in this country security has never 100% guaranteed to citizens. To Dialogue with this set is absurding, they really want war. Their demands are crazy enough for a citizens to think of that. So which way Nigeria.Only God will save this country. For the rest of the southerner over there my advice to them is to make hay while the sun shines(the early the better)
1) Concerning the boko haram sect. which is causing a great menace to our society, FG should train the ex-millitant, finance them and their working together with the SSS can bring the book haram sect down.
ReplyDelete2) Millitary; The army otherwise called the anti-crime squad; FG should employ as many unemployed who wish to join the army in their localities and train them for war and fight crime, arm robbers, book haram, militants, etc. those who are caught collecting bribe will automatically be removed. This will go a long way to reduce insecurity in our society.
