Adele's ex must be kicking himself.
With over 2 million downloads on iTunes within a year of its release, her latest album 21 has earned the soulful 23-year-old British singer the title of first artist ever to go double platinum on Apple's iTunes Store in the U.S., reported The Loop.
Adele's extremely successful sophomore album -- reportedly inspired by said ex -- just experienced its biggest sales week thus far, selling 730,000 copies.
This week also marks its 21st non-consecutive week at No. 1 on The
Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. According to Columbia Records' February
22 press release, that makes 21 the longest running No. 1 album by a
woman in Billboard history, beating out the record held by the late
Whitney Houston's 1992 soundtrack album, Bodyguard.
These astounding achievements follow her substantial winnings at the
Grammys on February 12. Just a few weeks ago, Adele won one Grammy for
each of the six categories she was nominated for, including "Record of
the Year," "Song of the Year," and "Album of the Year."
