Several hundred Nigerian students protested outside the Nigerian High Commission against the abolition by Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan on January 1st of fuel subsidies, which has impacted the poor.
Several hundred Nigerian students and emigres representing “Nigerian Students In Diaspora”, “Nigerians In Diaspora” and their supporters protested this afternoon outside the Nigerian High Commission on Northumberland Avenue against the abolition by the government of Nigerian president Goodwill Jonathan of fuel subsidies which has seen the average price of petrol in Nigeria since January 1st 2012 rocket.

It is a sorry issue that we allow foreigners to be indirectly ruling us or dictating to us what to do whereas the same situation cannot be tolerated by those countries. I remember when I was in secondary school when IMF was trying to push Brazil on to the corner regarding her outstanding debt. Brazil responded that if the act did not stop she will stop paying the debt. Now we all can look at Brazil what she has become today. She is one of the leading World economy. I now wonder why we should be fed with what to do and how to serve our people in a better way.
