Soldiers from the Brigade of Guards, led by its Commander, Brig.-Gen. Emmanule Atewe, on Monday, held some journalists who came to cover the protest by Nigerians against the removal of fuel subsidy in Abuja, hostage.
The reporters had parked their cars at the public car park of the Federal Secretariat when Atewe led some soldiers to the venue.
When Atewe arrived, he ordered that two Hilux vehicles, one painted in army colour with the inscription ‘Brigade of Guard’ and the other, which was painted white with registration number BG 247 BWR, to be used to block the entrance to the park.
He then made several calls, which resulted in the arrival of armed soldiers and policemen to the venue.
He quickly ordered that the armed soldiers be deployed in all the corners of the park with an instruction that they should secure the place.
However, reporters who were already inside the park were not allowed to either go out or drive their cars out.
The reporters were Muyideen Olaniyi (Daily Trust), Olusola Fabiyi (Punch), Inalegwu Shaibu (Vangaurd), Moses John (Leadership), Anastasia Ogugebe (Hot FM) and Sanni Onogu (The Nation).

Such action shows the dearth of the intelligence if those running our government - brainless individuals!!!
ReplyDeleteIn this day and age, how could anyone thought such action would not become public, and what kudos do they think that would win them?
