Salami’s suspension is judicial terrorism – Aregbesola

OSOGBO- Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, has described the suspension and travails of President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, as judicial terrorism.


Receiving report of the Osun Truth and Reconciliation Committee, TRC, set up by his administration in Osogbo, yesterday, Governor Aregbesola called on all the noble people in the country to rise against the persecution of Justice Salami and other Judges who stood for truth and justice.

Aregbesola in a speech titled “truth is immutable,” said while the effects of other types of terrorism could easily be noticed, that of judicial terrorism could not be easily detected.


He reiterated that his administration decided to set up TRC not to witch-hunt or persecute, intimidate or harass anybody, but to have injustices of the past investigated and corrected.

Aregbesola recalled that before the advent of his administration “the state was under siege, total despotism, where abuse of human rights was rampart.”

The governor who traced the genesis of his ordeal in the hands of the last administration in the state from 2005 when he showed intention in the Governorship race till the last day of the administration in November last year, listed some of the victims who were either killed or maimed for supporting a positive change in the state.

While commending the commission for a good job, he however disclosed that the recommendations of the committee would be studied by his administration with a view to applying sanctions and compensation where necessary.
Earlier the Chairman of the commission, Justice Samson Nwafor said commission received over 700 memoranda ranging from human right abuses from the last administration to police brutality of the opposition members of the state.
