A son of the late Bola Ige, Olumuyiwa Ige, was among eight commissioner-nominees screened by the Osun House of Assembly on Monday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, had on July 27 forwarded a list of 14 commissioner-nominees and 20 special advisers to the House.
While the House was to confirm the commissioner-nominees, it was also to approve the chosen pecial advisers.
At Monday’s screening in Osogbo, Mr Ige, who is an architect, told the House that he would contribute his quota to the development of the state when given the opportunity.
The lawmakers later told him to take a bow and go due to the contribution his late father made to uplift democracy in the old Oyo State and the country as a whole.
Mr Adewale Afolabi, a legal practitioner and the first Speaker of Osun State legislature, was the first nominee to appear before the House and was equally asked to simply take a bow.
The rest of the nominees were Mofolake Adegboye, Adewale Adedoyin, Oluwabukola Olawoye, Bashir Ajibola, Sikiru Adetona, and Stephen Kola-Balogun. Mr Kola-Balogun is a son of the late Kola Balogun, a former minister in the old Western Region.
The House Speaker, Najeem Salam, however, asked Mr Kola-Balogun, who was brought up in Britain, to re-appear before the assembly the following day.
