Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, was yesterday questioned by a seven-man panel of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) who are in Lagos to conduct verification exercise for outgoing public office holders on matters pertaining to their assets.
CCB South West Commissioner, Dr. Ademola Adebo, who spoke to journalists after the exercise, lauded the governor for cooperating with the panel, saying he (governor) paintstakingly filled the forms and provided the necessary documents requested by the bureau.
"Fashola has satisfied the requirement of submitting himself to us. So what is left for us is to continue to do contextual analysis of some of these things to see how they all tally or differ," he said.
He said the team of investigators would also carry out a thorough analysis of the data provided by the commissioners. and aides of the governor who served in the outgoing tenure. "
He described the exercise as an open-ended thing. "It is an ongoing thing; as long as you are in office, we will continue to carry out the exercise on you. The form they declared four years ago when they came into office, we have it and the ones they have declared now at the end of their tenure. It is a constitutional requirement that says that at the beginning and end of tenure, the exercise must be done," he said.
The bureau had earlier quizzed the Deputy Governor, Princess Sarah Sosan, Secretary to the State Government, Princess Adenrele Adeniran Ogunsanya as well as commissioners and aides on Wednesday where they collected some vital documents for the verification exercise.
