Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Akwa Ibom State governorship candidate James John Udoedehe has been moved to Uyo prisons.
He was ordered remanded by Magistrate Edet Obot after he appeared before him on Monday.
Udoedehe’s lawyers, led by Mr. Niyi Akintola (SAN), are battling to secure his freedom.
Yesterday, they filed a bail application before an Uyo High Court. This application is likely to be heard today, it was gathered.
The Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, ordered Udoedehe’s unconditional release, after his lawyers protested his arrest and harassment in court last Thursday.
Inspector General of Police Hafiz Ringim was yesterday served the Federal High Court ruling. The Akwa Ibom State government will be served today, it was learnt.
It was gathered that the court bailiff bearing the Abuja court order did not arrive in Uyo on time yesterday.
Udoedehe was arraigned at the Federal High Court, and charged with treason. But the court dismissed the case and granted him bail.
But the police flew Udoedehe by helicopter to Uyo last Thursday.
He was charged with murder and arson before an Uyo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. But Magistrate Obot declined jurisdiction and ordered him remanded. This was after the Federal High Court ruling which granted him unconditional freedom.
