HE spate of political violence in Ogun State heightened Tuesday as gunmen stormed the house of the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, Chairman in Abeokuta South Local Government Area; Alhaji Akeem Odejimi shooting indiscriminately. The attack came barely a week after the home of the former deputy Governor of Ogun State; Alhaji Adegbenga Kaka who is also the Action Congress of Nigeria Senatorial candidate in Ogun East was attacked where several vehicles were destroyed by hoodlums who also shot sporadically.
Odejimi, until recently the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the local government before his defection and his household narrowly escaped death at his Nawar-ud-deen Abeokuta residence when the attackers struck at about 11.00p.m.
Narrating his ordeal to newsmen yesterday at the house which was riddled with bullets, Odejimi said he was full of thanks and praises to God adding ‘’as you can see, those who came for me meant to kill for me, but I thank God for his abundant protection on me and my household.
