NCAA suspends domestic flights today

The aviation regulatory body in Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has said that there will be no domestic flights while today’s election lasts.

Spokes person for the agency, Mr. Sam Adurogboye, said the restriction would not affect inbound flights into the country.

“NCAA exists first and foremost to enforce government policy on aviation and of course enforcement of safety regulations in line with international standards.

“Certainly, there will be no domestic flights within the period of elections, because passengers can’t even get to the airports. But as for the scheduled inward bound international flights, they will be allowed into the country, except that their passengers will not be allowed out of the airports within the period the election will last.”

Mr. Adurogboye explained that some officials in the aviation industry will be on duty during the elections as they are offering essential services.

“Aviation is classified as essential duty, hence, some officials will be on duty.”
