Jos: Task force regrets Killings

Jos – The Special Task Force, STF, detailed to maintain security in Plateau State, Sunday expressed regrets over Saturday’s shooting which left a woman dead and two others injured in Utan area of Jos,  during the presidential election.
This came as the state chapter of Transition Monitoring Group, TMG, demanded  an  unreserved apology from the police and the special task force over the arrest and molestation of several of its members who were observers during thePresidential election.

The STF in a statement by its spokesman, Captain Charles Ekeocha, said the commander “regrets the unfortunate  incident” and that investigations into the incident had commenced.
It condoled the family of late Juliana Bulus who lost her life and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured.

The Task force pledged its commitment to working with the people for the restoration of peace to the state.
But addressing journalists on the arrest of its members, state Coordinator of the TMG, Mr. Samuel Itodo, said the group would seek legal redress if the security agencies failed to apologize for the treatment meted to its members.

He alleged that female TMG observers were made to sit  on bare floor and their pictures taken  for purposes unknown to TMG and wondered why STF could treat its members in such manner despite several explanations.
