INEC to arraign 12 Suspects in Cross River.

No fewer than 12 persons, who allegedly contravened certain aspects of the 2010 Electoral Law during the National Assembly elections in Cross River State, will be arraigned in court today, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mike Igini, has disclosed.

Also, the State Police Command, the State Security Services (SSS) and other security agencies in the state are on the trail of a man who was in possession of 62 voter cards belonging to different persons in Odukpani Local Council.

Meanwhile, exit polls from two federal constituencies in the state were released yesterday, with John Owan Enoh and Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, both of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winning the Obubra/Etung and Calabar Municipal Council/Odukpani federal constituencies in that order.
In the Obubra /Etung Federal Constituency, a total of 51, 076 votes were cast, 4,365 were rejected and 46,311 held as valid votes. PDP pulled 39,963 votes; ACN, 6, 078; ANPP, 3,809; APGA, 3, 261; APS, 240; and LP, 350 votes.

In the Odukpan/Calabar Municipal Federal Constituency, ACN got 7,213 votes; ALP, 331; ANPP, 594; CPC, 1,135; DPFPF, 206, LP, 923; and PDP, 23,298 votes.
However, results from five federal constituencies and that of the northern senatorial district were being expected as at press time yesterday.

Those to be arraigned, Igini said, include six persons apprehended by the police for allegedly attempting to snatch ballot boxes during the polls.

He explained that the man, who was found with 62 voter cards, escaped into the creeks in Odukpani shortly after pandemonium broke out, as he was held by the policeman that manned the polling both.
“Investigation, which is on-going, will show how he came to be in possession of that number of voters card. All the cards, though not laminated, have the full biometric information of the owners,” Igini added.
