Fashola, Momodu Commend Conduct Of Election

WHILE there was slight improvement in voter turnout in Governor Fashola’s polling unit in Surulere, turnout in other parts of the state was relatively dull.

Meanwhile, presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP) Dele Momodu, has commended the peaceful conduct of the polls across the state, saying Nigerians have resolved to elect credible leaders.
By the time Fashola cast his vote in yesterday’s polls, 326 people had been counted on the queue at State Senior Grammar School Surulere, Iponri Ward G3. The figure is slightly higher than last week’s National Assembly election where only 273 votes were recorded out of the 316 accredited in the same area.

Speaking to journalists afterward, Fashola said, “the election has been so far so good… The security situation is also very impressive. This is the second of the three top flights, and so far so good, we hope it continues like this. The citizens are apparently responding positively to the system.”

Momodu, who cast his vote at the Junior Primary School, Wasimi, Maryland, noted that the peaceful conduct of the election was an answer to the prayers of Nigerians to witness a violent free and credible election.

“I pray that nationwide, everybody would conduct him or herself in a peaceful manner. This is very important. Once there is peace, nobody would complain that they stole ballot boxes and all that.

That’s what we have been praying for. We have been praying. We have been fasting, everywhere we go. The churches, the mosques, everybody has been praying because there is nothing as good as being able to select a leader of your choice.
