There is a new dance in town that
has taken the whole of Ghana and its music scene with a bang. The new dance
craze, 'One Corner', has caught up with the people of Swedru in the Central
Region.
The dance which stemmed from a
song from a rising artist known as Patapaa drove patrons “mad” recently at the
Swedru Akwambo festival where he was crowned the winner of the season
The high tempo ‘Hi-life-Azonto’ song
which has no meaningful lyrics has gained immense recognition in all corners in
the Central Region. The dance although a crazy one is accompanied with extra
energy that requires one secludes oneself in a corner and perform a sexually
stimulating dance.
The ‘One Corner’ song comes with
a frenzy paralytic dance which sends dancers wayward – with some of them
seeking to hide under cars, motor bikes, gutters among other places upon
hearing the song.
Nonetheless, both young and old
have since been mesmerized by the One Corner fever as they take turns to show
off their skills.
During an interview with Gershon Mortey, Patapaa disclosed some people accused him of using voodoo to enchant listeners to dance to his music but he believes it is the blessings of God that is lifting him into the limelight.
“Some people have accused me of
using Juju [Voodoo]. That is never true. I believe it is the work of God. When
God blesses you, no man can stop it. I have been in the music industry for
years. I know God is paving the way…” he said.
With his followers who go by the
name: ‘Patupa Soldiers’, they have pledged their allegiance to the fast rising
artiste who further claims others call him, the ‘Swedru Shatta Wale’- thus he
carries similar vibrant energy and craft of the dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale.
It was recently reported that a young
lady died while performing the ‘one corner’ dance in Ghana.
The lady whose name was not given
is believed to be in her twenties. She felt unconscious while performing the
dance moves.
It was gathered that the
deceased, currently under investigation, had her body jerking after the crazy
dance was still over.
However, speaking to the media,
Families of the deceased, indicated that, the lady whose name was not given had
