100 Days in Office: NigerianEye readers, rate President Buhari's performance

It almost seems like yesterday when the 'Wind of change' blew away Ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan away to usher in the government of Muhammadu Buhari, but the reality is that 100 days are gone already.

Immediately Buhari was sworn into power, the expectations of Nigerians sprang up high, and many expected him to immediately correct the ills of the previous administrations.

From being considered as 'Baba go slow' to facing several criticisms for an alleged favoritism of the North in his appointments,  his failure to appoint ministers in 100 days have also made some sections raise eye brows.

However, Buhari in 100 days have been able to launch a renewed vigour in the war against Boko Haram by the overhaul of the dysfunctional topmost hierarchy of the Nigerian military. Since May 29, new service chiefs have been brought in, the military command centre has been moved to the heart of the war in Maiduguri and the troops’ morale and confidence are on an upswing.

Buhari has also been able to wage a “Non-Negotiable” war against corruption, general improvement in power supply in some parts of the country, cleanup of the messy NNPC, mending of Nigeria’s fractured relationship with the world powers, he also followed the footsteps of his predecessor, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, by making regional integration within the West African subregion one of the priorities of his administration.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s has also made plans significantly cut down the number of ministries, agencies and departments (MDAs) in the country by merging the duplicates and jettisoning the non-performers, which will inadvertently save Nigeria monies to the tune of hundreds of billions of Naira that are needlessly spilled from the national treasury into their maintenance. The successful blockage of these leakages does not only make economic sense, but it will also be a giant leap in the fight against corruption.

In 100 days, electricity production rose from less than 3,000 megawatts before Buhari came into office to about 5,000 megawatts now, while refineries have suddenly come back to life after years of idleness.

Lastly, Buhari's declaration of his assets few days ago have also shown sincerity, accountability and his zeal to be maybe be Nigeria or even Africa's most transparent leader in recent times.

After 100 days in office as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, how would you rate President Muhammadu Buhari?

  1. Every significant change like Power and Refineries are legacies of GEJ administration that NE should not accredit to PMB. It's is impossible to revive a refinery in 100 days, these are works that ve already been paid for by the last regime. Secondly, the Perm Sec Power, Dr IGALI recently accredited the power stabilization to lack of Vandalism, meaning these structures were put in place by GEJ. Therefore, it can arguably be said that the sudden stopage of vandalism might be attributed to APC who once vowed to make GEJ admin ungovernable. Pls, like I said "Arguably" to I am allowed to claim that Vandalism is a product of APC. Finally, nice rate approval strategy by NE. I always vote u guys as the best political content blog in 9ja. Can't wait to see the outcome of this vote cos I have copied and sent the link to all my contacts to vote and I encourage all readers to so.

    5. Umpire, are you sick? You are obviously blind to the rot in the power and oil sector or you have failed to face reality. Jonadaft did nothing but messed up this country and made Abacha looked like a saint.

    6. Yes all the money on the so call refinery and power is spent by jonathan but he failed woefully by not allow them work through his lacklustre attitude towards corruption Afterall stealing is not corruption. What jonathan physical presence failed to do then is now been done by Buhari’s shadow. What a shame to Doctor Jonathan

  3. Good sides stated. No balance because the bad sides are omitted, things like the lopsided probes.. of political opponents only, the victimization of Ms Ogar of DSS, the failure to appoint ministers which is to allow him take major decisions alone without consulting any cabinet, the anti-Ndigbo posture, etc. However this may be viewed, they need correcting, and PMB should work on them.

    1. Buhari is doing very well as far as I am concerned, if truly Jonathan paid for all this stuff then why were they not working? Look at the rate of dollar today, all because of him, e no go better for Jonathan and his supporters

    3. Mr Umpire, your opinion tire me sha! If GEJ was such a fast worker, why would he sow the seed for PMB to come and reap, where he (PMB) did not sow? GEJ had 6 years as CinC to make our refineries work; he had 6 years to squash Boko Haram; he had 6 years to quench corruption; had 6 years to smash impunity; etc, etc. He did not do any of that. Now that PMB has brought simple solutions to solve the problems created by previous administrations, you claim he is reaping where Jonathan sowed. You need to re-think. Do you sincerely believe that Jonathan did all that? Revive the decaying power sector; reviving the refineries; fight corruption; etc? Stop being euphoric of a decadent regime. Think constructively; no room for decadent nostalgia.

    4. Yes Jonathan did all of that and many more that baba goslow will still take credit for. I just learnt of NIGERIA's own world trade center underway since 2010, are you aware Jona was onto any such project, even the African giant rice mill, another of Jona's project I got to learn of it recently. What am implying is that these things take time, you can revamp a refinery in one year....it takes longer, you build a WTC in one year...it takes longer, electricity, giant rice mill, and federal roads all of these takes longer time than 100 days! PMB and his cabinet should embark in their own projects and I give the credit to them, but as of today they have performed poorly and have achieved nothing. All Christians in plateau state will soon be extinct and we are here talking trash while baba go slow looks the other way pretending not to be aware......excuse me Nigerian!

  7. Is my life better now? Only slightly, i now get more electricity supply. I am also hoping for more infrastructure if and when the man kicks out corruption. Its still early days sha. But i am optimistic.

  8. I do not trust you guys to give an unbiased result because your articles have always tilted its support towards GMB. Its as simple as that. Anyways I have rated him as poor, afterall if we take into account claims that our treasury is empty, it means he could not and indeed did not achieve anything in his first 100 days.

  10. Buhari is working hard. Money from government now use government bank account instead of Oga private account. Therefore, corrupt people have no hiding place. Ghost workers are being stopped.

Criminal people are now afraid of the consequence of their actions. Corrupt people are in trouble already as they are running where nobody is pursuing.

  12. I rate him poor. To me we elected a democratic president not a dictator. But our president is gradually turning him self into a dictator. His failure to appoint ministers after 100 days is a failure and a disappointment. And also the apc lead government denial of their electoral promises to Nigerians is a huge lack of credibility. The president should stop hiding under the mess of his predecessor and start fulfilling his electoral vows. Nigerians are no fools

  14. Buhari never did any thing on electricity supply, not even on refinery up-grade.those are GEJ Glory that he came in to enjoy. Tinubu is praising Buhari for corruption recovery, What has Buhari recover from Tinubu who is the most corrupts Governor ever produce in Lagos state? how about El-rifai, Adams the basket mouth of the nation from Edo state, Okorocha Rochas, Fashola and host of others. Buhari only succeeded in sacking, and sacking from one para-stater to another just fix in his people, The Boko Haram issue they sponsored to start still remains where it's, Chibok's girls NGO Mistress Oby does not have money to campaign any longer, Buhari has failed in his assets declaration for the second time, we are especting the third one which will be bigger than the second one. He Buhari is a born lair, a deceiver and has nothing to offer to change this country with his political criminals that surrounds him especially those from the south south and south east making noise all over when their Government has nothing to show for 8 years. As for now , Buhari's Government is still at Zero level. Insecurity every where, stealing and Kidnapping here and there with government security doing nothing to it and yet those that want to pa- take in sharing Buhari's dividend are showering praises on him because he change service staffs and moves military command to Boko- Haram state and that is what we celebrated in his 100 days in office, No blue print of what his administration will look like. He is only interested in probing opposition party (PDP) in particular because he wants to sub-due them in politics. Buhari please focus on administration and how you change the errors of others. eg OBJ. STOP BEING A FAILURE!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Thank you fellow citizen. My own problem is that nobody crosschecked to confirm that the asset declaration was accurate and we are just praising the man. Who knows what he had before? Anyway a govt that takes over 3mths to appoint ministers is not yet serious. Buhari had since March when he won the election to think on this and he is still thinking. That is not good for this nation. All he is thinking is probe which does not include previous leaders who were his colleagues. That doesn't show boldness. People should be probed but the more important thing now is to plan ahead. However we look forward by faith to a better future

    2. Hmmm! Haba! Bros, 100 days is too small for any significant progress to be made in a country as bIG as Nigeria. We gave bros Jona 5 years to perform, so I see nothing wrong if we give mal. Buhari 4years to show us the stuff he is made of. So my bros take am easy. Plssss!

  16. Power improvement and refineries are legacy of former president. It is very obvious that before election power supply and refineries were sabotaged. What will you point to that Buhari has done that brought about the improvement in both power and refineries. I do not have anything against Buhari, infact i think we should not even appraise him now or hold him responsible for anything not working well. He should be given time to work. He is only putting things in order for now by his judgement and it will take like two years to see the impact. But to credit his government for the power and refineries improvement is erroneous and bad judgement. The credit should go to Jonathan instead.

  19. I rate him very poor, he has achieved nothing but a lot of noise making. improved power supply and revamp of electricity, world trade center and giant rice mill are all Jonathan's achievements. Buhari is just a senile old bigot, a tribalist and a dictator. His lopsided political appointments and lopsided probes says a whole lot about him.
