WATCH VIDEO: Oba Akiolu's controversial speech to the Igbos in Lagos

Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu’s statement that Lagos residents of Igbo descent must vote for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, or else they will die in the lagoon has been confirmed via a circulating video.

Video below...

The monarch on Sunday said he was not ready to beg the Igbos and warned them not to repeat their support for presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Goodluck Jonathan on March 28.

Following the criticism that greeted the outburst, the Oba’s palace issued a statement denying the comments attributed to the paramount ruler in the state.

But the video recording has now confirmed that Oba Akiolu indeed uttered what he had been accused of saying.

He can be heard saying “On Saturday, if anyone of you goes against Ambode who I picked, that is your end. If it doesn’t happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and it is not my father who gave birth to me.

“Jonathan is my son and I speak to him everyday. By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future.

“On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.

  6. What the man is saying is too irritating, area boy in form of king. All these insults on Igbo people are caused by successive Nigerian Government who neglected our business areas like the Onitsha and Aba he called, if they can develop that place for us the way they developed Lagos and we have a major seaports, international airports and good roads in East, we will go out of this overcrowded and traffic jam Lagos and also flourish in our land.

  8. I'm not surprised at this man. He's been deranged since young age. He's been a thorn in the flesh of we Lagosians as well. Once he sees money, he runs mad.
Like the Awujale said, no royal father should interfere in politics. Now that is an oba of great repute.
Even Akiolu's children know him to be a mad man.

  9. We thank the Oba of Lagos for his Terrorist Manifesto! Boko Haram is not alone in the game. God is watching. Is Jimi Agbaje a slave in Lagos or some kind of an outcast. I need clarifications.

  10. The Oba has seen it coming. he is acting the script of failure. As Oba I guess he should be father for all. he has counted his chicks even before hatching. Sorry baba there is no room for corruption. your candidate has lost the election. prepare to drown yourself in the water prepared for the Igbos.

  11. Oba Akiolu's statement fell short of a respected and non-partisan monarch. If I am an Igbo person, his statement is enough to change my mind. It is good that Akinwunmi Ambode has dissociated himself from that statement. Saturday is around the corner and all of us should vote wisely.

    2. Neither does this comment display you as wise. It wasn't a campaign strategy but a fellow Nigerian's thought. Don't be stupid please. No-one was trying to canvass for your vote.

  16. The Oba of Lagos in an attempt to intimidate the igbos resident in Lagos has threatened to kill igbos if they vote for Jimi Agbaje for Governor. No body can test the resolve of our people. Igbo bu igbo let us now show our electoral worth and relevance by voting for Agbaje. Great warriors of Biafra, please teach this Oba a lesson with your vote. Any igbo who votes for Ambode is a slave. Send this to at least 5 others. Igbo kwenu ! !
