African Independent Television (AIT) owners received N10 billion to produce and air negative documentaries on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a SaharaReporters investigation shows.
SaharaReporters learnt that the Minister for Petroleum Affairs, Diezani Allison-Madueke is bankrolling the documentary while the scripts and voice overs are being prepared and cut with the help of the Nigeria Television Authority and some Nollywood production companies and working for President Jonathan's re-election.
As a result of the massive deal, AIT, which was in poor financial shape that its principal owner, Raymond Dokpesi, had decided to sell it to the banks to which the station owed several billions of Naira, is now back in good standing. It has also become considerably bolder because of the backing of Mrs. Allison-Madueke and other powerful government officials behind the deal.
Our investigation reveals that AIT receives N5 million each time an episode of any of the documentaries is aired on their channels in different Nigerian markets.
Apart from the cost of producing and airing the documentaries, SaharaReporters found that a team of high-priced lawyers has also been mobilized with about N3 billion to handle any legal threats that may arise from the documentaries. Just last week, APC chieftain Bola Tinubu sued AIT over the documentary on him.
SaharaReporters learned that the next in the series will focus on the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Our source, who didn't want to reveal the content, said the objective of that show will be to “destroy” Prof. Osinbajo's position as a strong moral leader in the Christian community.
"The idea is to make the Christians who have left Jonathan because of Osinbajo's entry into the Presidential race to have a rethink," our source stated.
“The PDP is still failing the basic mathematics,” a political analyst told SaharaReporters. “They can squander all of the money in the Central Bank trying to damage the reputation of everyone in the opposition, but how does that provide a cover for the ineptitude and corruption of the Goodluck Jonathan government? Does that explain why Nigeria is far worse than they found it? That is the question Nigerians will be answering when they go to the polls in three weeks.”

I'm very sure he dosen't know the company finances, DAAR international owns AIT and not one man own DAAR intl.anymore this happen over 10yrs ago. Sahara reporters will want to see video that our military is defeating boko haram by again cities but wouldnt wait for boko haram to release their video of victory before they release rumors that boko haram has taken another city. Even during late Pres. Yar' adua's regime sahara reporters annouced that he was dead before his health got worse. I dont really trust this anti-government team of reporters.
ReplyDeleteWe cannot be fooled by the Federal Goernment. These documentary are blatant falsehood and misguided attempt to smear characters. Every single issue raised in respect of the so-called "crime" by Tinubu were purported to be "alleged" with little or no evidence. If the government in power knows so much, but stupid not to take appropriate actions, they deserve to be voted out on 28th March. Is Tinubu contesting this election? Is it a crime to strengthen the opposition or lay the foundation of an exemplary Lagos state as a template for others? For the avoidance of doubt, the evolution and development of political parties In Nigeria is incomplete without the ingenuous contributions, charisma, and political sagacity of this institutional enigma, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. These documentaries are meaningless and remain futile. AIT is just making money for the delivery of a still birth.

Is there anything that was said in the documentary that's a lie? Personnaly it's a stale news for me! Maybe for those who do not know what's going on in Lagos here! And for Sahara reporters, spare me! They are a "synonym" to FFK! How can I take them as integrity folks! And that's exactly the path Nigerian Eye is threading now! There is absolutely nothing in that documentary that's a lie! Tinubu can go to court if he feels otherwise.

ReplyDeleteIs Tinubu contesting any political offices ? If truly Tinubu commits all those mentioned atrocities, and the government in power fails to prosecute him, then it has shown the level of cluelessness of the govt of the day.
I know tinubu is a greedy man. all the stories in the said documentary is not new to us here is Lagos. my fair is that he should not extend it to federal capital if APC wins. As for Jonathan he is too extravagant to rule this country. he always sleeps on duty. he will never react to pressing issue until is too late. Fashola is the one that give tinubu government a face lift we all know that. so people should not always forget the past. Jonathan allows all the ministers to do their work without much control which is normal in other advance country and those who are honest performed very well eg minister of agriculture, and dishonest one like Alison Madueke are pen robbers. as for Buhari that guy is too old to rule this country, let them give youth chance to rule and put things in other because is our time, let them give us chance to plan our future.
