Pastor Adeboye responds to bribe allegations - 'Pastors taking bribes from politicians risk God’s anger'

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned that pastors collecting bribes from politicians risk the wrath of God.

It can be recalled that an allegation was made by the Director General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi, who is also the Governor of Rivers State, had accused the ruling party of bribing a group of Nigerian pastors with N6 Billion to support Jonathan.

Adeboye however said this on his official Facebook page on Wednesday while reacting to allegations by the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, that the Peoples Democratic Party had bribed some pastors with N6bn to work against the All Progressives Congress and its presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)

However, Adeboye, said, “I read in the newspaper this morning that one of the serving governors in Nigeria said that some pastors in Nigeria collected N6bn from politicians for the purpose of influencing their members to vote a certain candidate in the coming elections.

“May I humbly request that if there be any pastor or pastors who collected such money, they should please return such as quickly as possible before the fire of the Almighty consumes you.”

Amaechi, had on Tuesday, told his supporters not to be deceived by pastors, whom he said, were campaigning against Buhari because he was a Muslim

He had said, “Some pastors collected N6bn and they are circulating document and telling you not to vote for an Hausa man; not to vote for a Muslim; that they want to Islamise Nigeria. Tell them to return our N6bn.

“They gave them N6bn; they should return it to the Federal Government coffers. They will tell you that Buhari wants to Islamise Nigeria; tell them we are too educated.

“I am a Catholic, but no Catholic priest has told me that story right now in the Catholic Church because, I will ask him how. If any pastor tells you that, tell him to return the money.

“Nobody can Islamise Nigeria; they have commercialised Jesus Christ. They should stop commercialising the Christian faith. You know what Jesus Christ did in the temple? He chased them away.”

  5. Papa Adeboye should also help to talk to pastors in the RCCG who are asking their members to bring their PVCs to church for prayers so that APC will win because of Pastor Osinbanjo.who who is one of them. RCCG is too big to meddle into politics.

  6. I join my faith with millions of believers. If anonymous 7.30am actually lied or believed in a lie to slander the man of God it shall not be well with him (anonymous 7.30am) and the Lord will visit you with his anger until you repent and get the man of God to lay his hand on your head. So shall it be and it is so. I humbly warn others to be careful with their comments because the Lord is going to defend his own.

  9. Now, it is the talk of bribe giving. Hmmm.... Dia Ris God ooooo.

This may not be far from the truth in the way and manner some Churches have turned their pulpit into Political Campaign Machineries. Some are even already predicting victory for a dubious man. A man that can never be held to his words. Kai, Dia ris God ooooo.......

This is in addition to the various fabricated stories flying on the internet possibly through GEJ's Media aide, Reno Omokri. First there was fabricated story purporting that Oyedepo endorsed GEJ. When that one failed, they came up with another fabrication which claimed that PFN/CAN agreed to endorse GEJ in a secret meeting.

My people, henceforth please be very careful with GEJ's people and the entire desperate PDP machinery.

You see what we are all saying, now that GEJ sees that the Church is not ready to go the bandwagon, GEJ has resorted to inducement, fabricating stories about them supporting is candidature and so on.

You see same GEJ is now polluting and at same time lying against the same men of God and bringing their names into disrepute and also bringing into disrepute the integrity of the Church.

Every Pastor knows that it's only righteousness that can exalt a Nation. Indeed, a leader may have at his/her disposal the Nation's resources to spend and even squander all in the name of Projects. However, there are crucial things that a leader on his/her own part must bring to that table/seat of leadership which are namely, righteousness, honesty, integrity, character (must be a man/woman of his/her words either in secret or in the open), hatred for sin, hatred for corruption, hatred for hypocrisy, courage (not an ostrich like leader that will be busy burying head in the sand), empathy, etc.

We are currently the laughing stock of the whole world due to the fact that we lack will power to fight corruption. You can't even get justice now in Nigeria without money. SSS/Police will not investigate nor prosecute criminal cases if the individuals are known allies of the President (aka Asari, Tompolo, et al) or if you are not able to provide what they call mobilization fee. We are not respected anywhere in the world even in our backyard here. We are not able to transact business easily in the worldwide e-commerce community due to that fact that we are labeled as being corrupt. Any attempt to register on a site like ebay.com with Nigerian details will go through hell to be accepted.

Indeed there are criminals (even greater ones) out there in the so-called developed countries, but the key difference is that their system is considered adequate and acceptable to arrest and prosecute any offender, which is what is obviously lacking in our Country Nigeria.

Yes, we have a PhD President, however, GEJ does not know the difference between being corrupt and being a thief when it comes to a public officer who has been entrusted with the affairs/resources of our dear Nation Nigeria. To me, that shows that his PhD is absolutely worthless.

With these series of bribes and fabricated stories that now cast aspersions on the integrity of the Church, can one now really say that GEJ is indeed a true Christian.

Can all now see that GEJ's team are desperately corrupt and are definitely nothing but reprobates.

    Hmmm.... Dia ris God ooo....

  10. Good talk Sir.

However, we also need you to advise all Nigerians regarding the danger of also collecting stomach infrastructure and then selling their future for morsel of bread.

Indeed Pastors that collect bribe will face the wrath of God. But, it is also important to stress to Nigerians the danger of selling their votes either for money or gifts from Politicians.

God bless Nigeria and may God deliver us from ourselves, our enemies and our problems in Jesus Name, Amen and Amen.

  12. Anonymous 5th feb 2015@7.30am pray that God of heaven and earth does not judge you by your comment against a man of God. I doubt if you are a christian and very conversant with the bible. What if Amaechi came up with such story as propaganda that never happened. We will all be alive to see how he will end in this life.
