SHOCKING VIDEO: Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Tells Crying Widow To 'Go And Die'

What Governor Adams Oshiomhole Said to a Poor Widow

This can best be described as the most shocking remark ever made by a State Governor to a poor woman. The heart of a man who can say such things, especially in front of a huge crowd and cameras is desperately wicked.

This video shows Governor Adams Oshiomhole ostensibly leading officials of the state to sanitize the city of Benin, the Edo State capital. In the course of his tour of duty, he came across a widow roadside hawker.
What Governor Adams Oshiomhole Said to a Poor Widow
The poor widow knelt before the imperial governor, a former labour leader, begging for her little means of livelihood to be saved. She pleaded that she's a widow.

But her pleas fell on the governor's deaf ear. In what could be regarded as the most unkind cut of all, the governor said the widowed woman should “go and die”!
Afterwards he stood for some seconds looking indifferently on how the officials took the women’s belongings away, and he left the scene of the drama.

The huge crowd which witnessed all these was too shocked to say, or to do anything.

Absolutely shocking!!! from a Governor who claims to be 'A man of the People'

    2. So the best he can say is to tell the widow to go and die? I won't blame those in support of this short devil, they might be widower as well.

  2. What do you expect when you installed a thug (Comrade ?) as a Governor.
His comments are callous and unexpected of a democratic leader.
Must he be seen carrying out such duties? Why did he usurp the duties of a Task Force Supervisor?

  3. There is absolutely anything wrong in what the Governor did, must we play bias and destroy our country. I do not support Adams using profane words but the job of ensuring the state is sanitized needs to be done.

  6. why we Nigerians like to takes side of bad things, why cant we obey the law of the land?, if she is a widow, does it gives her the liberty toi sell on highways? despite different warning and orientation on media, we need sanity in this country, lets obey the law of the land. PERIOD.

  7. If he can tell a widow to go and die,m not surprised his improvised state police have as well being draconian in their approach without respect to human dignity. One question for the Comrade governor- is there an alternative means of livelyhood for hawkers in benin? Of course yes its called 'go and die'. Such a callous thing to say from the number One citizen of Edo state- Rex

  9. Selling on the roadside is bad i agree but telling a poor struggling widow to go and die breaks my heart and is utterly wicked. Adams Oshiomole that was totally uncalled for

  11. Not a good word to use I agree, but selling on the high way is not acceptable.I am aware that there have been several workshops, radio announcement,tv sensitisation on hawking and selling on the high way yet some people still want to hide in the guise of poverty to break the law. Hmmm

  14. We always comment on what we don't know anything about. These street hawkers had been told times without number to leave the streets. Nigerians in their typical way of evading justice can come up with any excuse. If I were the Governor, i would have had the woman arrested too. Nobody is above the law, widows included. By the way, did anybody even find out if the woman was actually a widow? Be slow to judge people in Government because our attitude to compliance with basic laws or regulations is terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I understand he's trying to uphold the law, but the go and die statement is just too insensitive, disrespect and harsh. Considering who he was before he became governor, he shouldn't address anyone like that.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The poor woman wasn't selling for christ sake. Check those goods, they were nt open its like she was waiting for vehicle to convey the goods to her house. This is wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  17. NE, you are too sensational in this report. Must she do the wrong thing to endanger the lives of others because she is a widow? Aside from that, most Nigerians lie to attract sympathy, how can you even prove if that lady was not telling lies?

    ReplyDelete
  18. What kind of rubish is this, oshiomhole should know that he is not God. He should be sanctioned for this. How can he tell a poor widow to go and die, no matter what. He too should go and die. He should go and apologise to that woman or else,

    ReplyDelete
  19. if selling along the highway is an offence, d comrade shud hv done somtin for her and warn her neva to hawk there again. An opportunity long awaited was abused by the governor who shud hv been jesus to the widow just like d man who spent 38yrs by d side of bethsida river nd was freed wen Jesus met him. Is a pity dat a comrade exhibited dis shocking nd nasty behavior to ppl he was meant to protect.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The woman was not selling she was going home. Can't somebody put goods on the road while waiting for a vehicle? I think oshiomhole was high on something. He must be mad.

    ReplyDelete
  21. BECAUSE A WIDOW JUST LOST HER ONLY CHILD WILL NOT STOP HER FROM BEING HANDCUFFED IF SHE BREAKS THE LAW.
ITS ONLY IN NIGERIA THAT WE ALWAYS WHIP UP SYMPATHY TO COVER OUR INADEQUACIES AND THAT'S THE BANE OF OUR UNDERDEVELOPMENT.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nigerians should resist Mr. Oshiomole for such arrogant behavior. This is quite unbecoming of a governor.

  25. What is wrong with with u ppl, that woman wasn't a hawker, watch the video well, the woman was waiting for vehicle to transport her goods. Those goods were not even open. I think she has a shop at home. Adams should go and apologise to that woman and give her back her goods. He should stop treating people like slave for he is not God

    ReplyDelete
  26. Adams is probably out of his mind!so is dis d change APC wanted 2 initiate @ federal level?u APC ppl are jokers nd dreamers, yeye ppl!

  27. If that woman had had several husbands, she would have continue to do her business and tell the law inforcement agencies her husbands are irresponsible. The point is that you should not use your pitiful condition to justify engaging in criminal activities. People have forgotten to soon that this same man offered scholarship to a child who is known to suffer negligence to the extent that he want out and intend boarding a plane to any destination.

But I have to say that telling someone to 'go and die' is harsh even if the person is a condemned criminal.

    1. It is always easy to refer to law and foreign country when u want to justify an impunity by these thieves in office. Can Adams or Oshiomole tell Nigerians that he has never taken from govt or broken the law. How much did he use to host BBA winner Dillish and her colleagues that he brought to Edo for his flirtacious gain. He is callous and randy. Empathy should be the watch word of leaders. Emeka

  28. Dont bring Imo governor into this, rubbing Peter to pay Paul abeg is he any better?

  29. The Govenor did wrong in cursing the widow, and God will surely judge him. What he should have done as aleader was to state the reason again on why we ban street hawking.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The truth is the woman was wrong, but the gov did not do good as well with his callous statement, but if you listen to this video actually, she said my oga na police,so is she really a widow?she must have told a lot of lies that annoyed the officials

    ReplyDelete
  31. He supposed to send the woman away from the road leaving her load with her since she showed remorse for her action after all as a widow she no go go thief or do ashawo to feed her family I still don't believe Adams used that statement because that Is a direct SIN against GOD and HUMANITY. BabaT...........

    ReplyDelete
  32. If all the widows in Nigeria were allowed to stay on the highway and sell their wares in d name of fending for themselves,I wonder how this country would look like.what needs to be done, has to be done!! U see we Nigerians like things the hard way,why didn't she leave after all the radio announcements and d sensitisation,we always like "the violent take it by force"approach. The governor's comment was wrong but he said out of frustration, because he believed he have done everything to make those people leave that place,he's human too and bound to say loose words too,I'm sure some of us would have even kicked the woman out with our own legs.So pls stop castigating the Comrade governor.

  35. This is the height of overzealousness. She was not selling. She was standing by the road side waiting for transport. Even if she has broken the law, should the Governor be so rascally to say "go and die"? Next time you are in Benin and some government official accuses you rightly or wrongly, just be careful because any rascally action or words could come next since they have learnt from the big Boss. Comrade? Comradeship died with the demise of the Soviet Union.

    ReplyDelete
  36. U believe the woman is a widow because she said so? View that video again and listen to the woman saying "my oga is a police." Which "oga" did she refer to?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Please people should b observant. That woman was not hawking at all. Those goods were in cartons n sealed. Nobody would bring all they have and put on d roadside. She could have brought them in bits if she was hawking. That man is heartless. Hour wanted a scape goat n got one. There would have been other people there apart from her if that's was the case. Hawkers usually converge in one place to do that. And if u listen well u would hear her tryin to explain that she was waiting for or was dropped there by a bus. This is the same person that was begging people like her for her vote now she should go and die. Such a shame that no Nigerian leader is humane. I feel pity for that woman. As much as I am one person that supports obeying the law and would stand for oshiomole if some one was actually hawking.that woman wasn't.

  38. That is just the beginning of APC reign, God will not permit them. they are all agents of darkness, Adam is only too fast to manifest his, so watch out for the next episode.

  39. Are they the only widow of the land? They're Almajiri's in disguise let them keep away from street.

  40. The behaviour of the Governor in this case is totally out of order. The Governor should know better. Whether the woman broke the law or not, the Governor must act with respect and care for the poor.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oshomole must have been fed up with animalistic and emotional attitude typical of our society,if Oshomole is wicked he will have embezzled all the money in edo state and turn the state to a mere gutter where everyone can begin to sell anything anyhow and dumped refuse then he go on to pity the likes of this woman to show fake goodness.....

    ReplyDelete
  42. If I were the governor, that woman will never hawk again. I will set her up by giving her a shop where she can trade, I will give her at least 1 million to stock the shop. Meeting the no. 1 citizen of the state should change the fortune of a widdow. After all Adams Oshiomole lavishes money on mistresses. Emeka

    ReplyDelete
  43. WE MUST NOT CONDEMN THE GOVERNOR FOR HIS USE OF GUTTER LANGUAGE ON THE WOMAN. THE ISSUE IS THAT YOU CANNOT EXPECT THE GOVERNOR TO APPLAUD HER ON THE STREET WHERE SHE WAS CAUGHT DOING THE WRONG THING. WE MUST LEARN TO OBEY THE LAW IRRESPECTIVE OF OUR INDIVIDUAL FEELINGS.
I DO NOT SUPPORT THE GOVERNOR FOR ASKING HER TO GO AND DIE. IT IS WRONG. ABSOLUTELY WRONG. THE WOMAN MAY HAVE VOTED FOR HIM IN THE LAST ELECTION AND WHILE DOING A RIGHTFUL DUTY HIS EXCELLENCY MUST LEARN TO USE WORDS CAUTIOUSLY. BECAUSE POSTERITY WILL QUOTE AND JUDGE HIM ON HIS UTTERANCES. I REST MY CASE

    ReplyDelete
  44. Although what the comrade told her is bad but if you listen to the end of the conversation before they started packing her wares, he said it in annoyance but the truth be told. He said displaying such a huge wares on the road is too much that did she want to kill other people by her wares or didn't you people see all what the woman was selling by the road? pls come on people lets say the truth, being a widow does not warrant her jeopardizing other peoples life.

  45. Comrade!!....Hmmm....Go & Die hmmm ??? ....Such indecent and arrogant phrase shouldnt be coming from a leader. APC 2015 is around the corner!! Everybody be on your guard separate the shaft from the seeds.

  46. For crying out loud that woman wasn't hawking she was only trying to get a vehicle to convey her goods. If Gov Adams Oshimole could tell a widow to "go and die" i mean that is a very callous thing to say. God help this country.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nobody should be surprised at Adams Oshemole`s statement because of his political background -APC, very arrogant and visionless people and this is how they want to rule Nigeria . The man has given himself another name "GO AND DIE" .From now Nigerians address him as go and die .

    ReplyDelete
  48. Regardless of what the woman had done, it is very wrong for a state governor to make sure statement to human being like him. it shows that he doesn't regard the less privilege.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Nigeria is just about to see APC in action, kudos to Adams Oshiomole. Have Nigerians seen what APC control state governors do? Go and die is a callous way to tell anyone the law of the land must be obeyed.

The governor is doing the right thing for the state, but he needs to know that his statement to the woman is wrong. The first thing the governor needs to do is create jobs in the state before the effort to sanitized the state can have possible effect.

  52. It did not look like the woman was hawking. But even if she was, this is no way to treat a human being. Do you really think she would be on the streets if she had a stable job? Instead of confiscating all her goods (and only God knows how mich she had to borrow to buy them) they could have just given her a warning or a fine. All this drama and language was totally unnecessary.

  54. Took my time to read all the comments made on this story. The first thing I must say here is that watching the video brought tears to my eyes no human being should be so debased least of all from a leader who should be the people's servant. Given when you contravene the law you should be prosecuted but even these very same leaders give pardons to convicted criminals let alone a woman on her knees in tears even if she wasn't a widow, the way she desperately tried to save those goods even in the presence of all those security shows how much her life depended on it. Its a shame how politics gives people a heart of stone, I had to watch it over and over again to be sure I heard right "go and die" not surprising, our leaders actually take pleasure in our suffering and death.

  57. Whatever or however, Oshomole did not treat the woman right. Which job him mama do? Our Government is insensitive to the plight of the poor, Have they provided the right infrastructures for the people? If that woman can afford a shop, what will make her sell on the street? who no like beta thing? If all struggling women should go and die, who will vote for them? GOD ALMIGHTY is watching

  59. hmmm Adams O. is a widower and even if the woman is not a widow that doesn't warrant such words. what is the alternative giving to these hawkers to make ends meet. it is heart breaking.........................whether she is a widow or not there is no justification for such comments ......more so in the midst of a crowd as this............when u check the records of inec dont be surprised to see that this same woman voted for Adams O.
though the woman was wrong Adams O. comments have over shadowed her wrong doings and now he is seen as the wrong doer...........words are like bullets once released it cant be retrieved......let us guard and guide our words not to hurt both man and God.

  63. Let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. The Governor allowed anger to prevail in this circumstance. For the widow, it is rather unfortunate, she was not hawking but awaiting a vehicle. To men, it is an act of cruelty but God has used this situation to sweep away poverty from her life. The 2m compensation will turn her situation around.
