What a man can do, a woman can do better as the saying goes... Last week a male police Sergeant, Chris Omeleze, attached to the Lagos State Motor Traffic Division, was caught on video demanding for bribe from a motorist. The Sergeant with Force number 192954 was dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, as he was reportedly found guilty at the end of a trial.
In this new video, a female police officer was caught on video demanding a bribe. Many will agree that it is turning into a daily routine to have Nigerian police officers ‘caught in the act’, which happens to be harassing members of the general public into dishing out bribes and gratis.
The author of this post was accosted twice for a bribe just this weekend by two separate members of the Policing community.
Perhaps it is high time the IG of Police sat up and took stringent action to stamp out this malaise in the force.

ReplyDeletena thier work dem dey do. even IG know. so make we stop to dey fool ourselves.
ReplyDeleteIs this a police officer or a criminal? Police officers are supposed to command respect as we see in the Western world. All these frustrated people they dump into the police force are desperate. She should go back to her village and go to the farm, that's where she belongs. An elite force turned into a breeding ground for thieves and robbers. Shame on you Mr IGP.
ReplyDeleteNigeria Police change! change! change! for the betterment of our country, please God help us.
ReplyDeleteWe all are CORRUPT. CORRUPTION flows in our BLOOD.
ReplyDeleteLets keep putting them up on social media! It will be good if we can get their names as well.
ReplyDeleteI encourage everyone to start using the social network to expose everyday corruption in every angle of the country the airport should be focus on especially the custom department ,we need more faces on Facebook ,to make it wildly seen i advice we send then to any of the Nigeria actors and actres social media with time will hit the IG office.
ReplyDeletein fact i will tell president to send all d police and sars to maidugri.so dat boko h we see dem true.anambra boy
ReplyDeleteSince this method or getting video & audio extracts of shameful malpractices is now getting popular by the day,it is important that the govt takes it seriously, bcos these acts occur so frequently everywhere in Nigeria that if we all choose to record & put them in the social media as we have started doing, the image of this our dear Nation will further deteriorate from what it already is. We are all ashamed of the conduct of the ordinary policeman in this country. I had said I personally will make efforts to visit a Nig Police training facility, & probably witness police training in progress,to see if these wrong attitudes were incorporated into their training. The regular police man on Nigerian streets lack manners, doesn't seem to know anything called job ethics, most times is very oblivious of his responsibilities to the society, sees himself as a demi-God,never knows he is supposed to serve the people & above all,he is totally ignorant of the LAW,which is expected to guide him in maintaining order. The IGP should carry out a sincere opinion pool on how the average Nigerian perceives the Nigerian police. Police brutality we used to hear as tales from other countries is now a regular practice here. The law doesn't seen to be a reality to the common man as his security is nowhere in the agenda of the FG. My house was attacked once by armed robbers who took away everything in my wife's possession even jewelries, phones, etc
ReplyDelete. Neighbours managed to reach the police who arrived hours after the robbers left the premises. They came blowing their siren probably to scare them away in case they were still around. They arrived my residence, without try to see if they could get clues from the scene that may lead to the arrest of the culprits, they ask my wife & my neighbour to follow them to the station at that time of the night to make statements. After taking their statements at the station, they were asked to pay N5000.00 which they said it was used to buy fuel in the police van that came to their rescue. This demand was made on people that have Ben robbed of everything they had at the moment. The Nigerian police still had the mind to tell them to bring money for their fuel. When they couldn't pay, they now told them that they may not respond if there is a next time. Tell me how we can hope & trust on the Nigerian Police if things go this way. This police problem is more serious than we're seeing it......Chris Abara.
Naughty Parade Force?
ReplyDeleteFormed to fight the crime.
But reformed to fight the peace.
The peace is dying
And NPF is giving birth.
The corruption,
The confusion
And the black toll gates-
All are the children of NPF.
Bring Kola,
Do something,
Answer me fast-
All are the words of NPF.
The baton,
The bullets,
And the gun-
All are in the hands of her bosom friends
Who used them to threaten the peace,
“Your life or your money?” They asked.
She sold her glory for a token of coin
And exchanged her honour for a cup of gin;
Her eyes are never cleared
Until she uses the gin to rinse.
Her body is never at rest
Until smokes come out of the nostrils.
How long will you fight the peace, NPF?
It is time to remember your first love
And let the black boots shine again.
You are to keep the peace
And not to kill the peace.
BLACK POPE,
ReplyDeleteWhat do you expect from a country where legislators hold the knife and the yam, only cutting for themselves juicy chunks. They are not even satisfied with what they steal in the dark, they now want life pension for a part-time job of legislation. The Policeman is a product of the general society. Tell me who is not corrupt. The IGP is doing his best trying to steer his men to continue to 'suffer in silence' and behave like the gentle man in one of the late Afro beat legend Fela Anikulakpo Kuti's song who, though hungry, will politely say 'no, thanks' when offered food. Are the policemen more corrupt than those politicians, fuel subsidy thieves and fraudulent judicial processes that free big-time thieves through plea bargains that trivializes theft of several billions of naira while the poor man who stole a few quids or a hen is sent to jail for years without option of fine. The policeman have children who must go to school, live in dehumanizing barracks or pay exorbitant rent like every other Nigerian and also, have to pay transport fare to and fro work while police authority pay deaf ears to the inconsiderate distance between work place and residence yet, his monthly take-home pay can hardly sustain himself alone if he must pay transport fare to and fro work, feed himself at work and buy accoutrements etc. I am not saying this because I support corruption but I want to say that, if we must fight corruption, the fight must be holistic. PHCN officials who continue to brandish inconsiderate bills that are not commensurate with services rendered, doctors in government hospitals who operate private clinics during their tour of duty, unqualified hands in sensitive public positions, men-of-God flying around in private jets (remember, it is easier for the head of a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for the rich man to enter the kingdom of God) etc, must also be brought under this search light of the 'hidden video/audio recorders' and appropriate action must be taken to address this canker worm called 'CORRUPTION'. I think we are all guilty, let anyone who is not corrupt in Nigeria cast the first stone.
