Sometimes we wonder why some of the Nigerian Policemen are corrupt, why they are always contended with taking bribes instead of performing their duties, well it all starts here at the Police College.
Channels TV exposed the deplorable conditions of the dormitories at the training college where recruits spend months to get training to become police officers. The condition of the hostels, the bathrooms, and even the way they feed is so shameful. N150 daily meal allowance. 50 people sharing 1 head of fish, it's just so sad.
There has been no major development at the college since it was built in the 40's except for a few renovations. They even still use type-writer. The College was built for 700 students, but now has 2,554 trainees presently.
For a young Nigerian man/woman needing the energy to survive the rigorous training required of a law enforcement officer, isn't it totally ridiculous that they have to survive on (N50 per meal) N150 per day?

ReplyDeleteThis is so shameful, let the House investigate for the last 10 years, how much has been earmarked for the trainees, how much is being spent and where is the money..I posted it yesterday when I read that Defence minister nearly slummed during the Army remembrance day that the Force are the most corrupt agency/ Dept. of Government, those guys are so rich with chains of investment everywhere,I wonder why EFCC and ICPC are not touching them, any president that initiate probing of Force in Nigeria will be the most recognized president in Nigeria,.
ReplyDelete9ja n police na wahala 4 dis country.
ReplyDeleteWell-done channel TV, the ball is in our court(General public) to expose other agencies from Local govt to federal level with our camera phones, BB and publish it in social media...may be somebody somewhere will do something...
ReplyDeleteI believe the IG is aware of this situation be I am aware that enough fund is made available for the police this include the training college. Most state government now buy motors for the Police. I am calling IG to investigate this matter.
ReplyDeleteFunny how everyone wants to blame the Govt for this, i blame the trainees , why haven't they done somethign about this a long time ago? One anonymous call to a tv station and it gets rolling from there.
ReplyDeleteSo i blame them for letting it go on for this long, its truly pathetic, even prisoners in America have a superior living condition than our cops, what a shame.
....but we have Ministry of Police Affairs in this country! Haba!!!
